Sgmc is the only hospital I have heard commenting on this, several months ago on a radio interview the mayor of Valdosta asked about the effect of weight, spokesman said just over 70% of in house care patients ( for covid) are over weight to obese.

Not a peep since, why don't know...can hazard a guess but don't know for sure.

Apparently the US obesity prevalence is around 42.%.

Good luck telling fat unemployed people what they can and cannot eat.

Keep that one up and it might just be each other.

Not that i don't agree with your sentiment but a sugar tax only manages to effect the poor.

Plus it not just soda/sugar consumption but other factors including sedimentary lifestyle that contribute to obesity.

Same to similar issues this side of the pond fat wise if im honest.

Until we face this fact we can not move forward. Morbid obesity must be addressed and hit hard. It's causing an enormous amount of healthy issues. Continuing to ignore it will only make it worse. A good start would be removing soda from food stamps. It's the #1 food item purchased with food stamps. It has to be banned from food stamps along with many other sugary products. It has to stop. And glorifying obesity must stop. It is not healthy and it's harming the youth making them think it's fine. It's not. If 78% of covid deaths did not happen this illness would not be an issue. We have a horrible obesity problem and it must be confronted.

youtu.be...

Anyone who denies obesity has become a problem in the U.S. hasn't been paying attention. I could stand to lose some weight myself, though I am not obese, but coming at this from the mindset of past dictators who cost millions of lives because some people didn't meet some arbitrary standard such as blue eyes and blonde hair isn't going to fix anything. It never has and it never will.

Is obesity a factor in the severity of Covid, Flu, heart disease, and more? I have no doubt it complicates matters. I know a lot of people because of my occupation. Oddly enough, the ones I personally know who have suffered the worst have not been the obese with a couple of exceptions.

My cousin is a total health nut (without the arrogant narcissistic attitude of some in this thread.), he almost died even though he was vaccinated and in great health. I'm sure someone could find something he did wrong though. He must of had some problem that made things worse, and therefore he needs to be punished for that, and everyone like him.

Wake up folks. Witch hunts and inquisitions aren't the answer.

Ban couches!

Ban remotes!

Ban pop tarts!

We need MOAR Bans!!

What are all you anti-fatty fat's complaining about???

Covid is doing exactly what you want it to...killing off the fatty-fatso's. More fries for you! The Tubby Two by Four's are dropping like flies, stuck in the bathroom door. YAY!, right? Sing it with me..."I don't want her, you can have her, she's too FAT for me!"

Or, is it that fatty-fatso's are breeding the rona in their layers of blubber? Is that what it is? That their folds of fumunda' cheese, harbor the petri dish of rona from hell?

What, covid's not enough for you? Now you want mandates on fatty's also? How about a ban on donuts? Or, a 'Fatty Passport', where you're only allowed into certain aisles at the grocery store? "FATSO" license plates. Where should we start; there's so much banning and mandates to be done.

People have lost their collective minds! How old are some of you people, twelve?

Let's see...who should we pick on next?

Kids with acne?

How about people with birth defects?

Oh, oh, I know...how about skinny people?

Or retarded kids?

OR...maybe we ought to just look in the mirror, and mind our own gawd damned business!!

I am with you, you can't force people but putting the blame on the unvaccinated is highly toxic and morally bankrupt. Face the main problem; obesity. If we face it then people understand it's no longer about politics. Take the politics out of it and then we can start encouraging healthy living, lifestyles and raise children with those principles. We are never getting there glorifying and encouraging obesity which is what we are doing now.

I agree, obesity, alcohol and tobacco are killing more people than the virus
The government don’t care, no profit?
I don’t have the answer

They don’t really care about our health
More children die from abortion than viruses

I support people having choices, wher eis the line in the sand

I think a lot of the fat, obese, over weight problems in the U.S. have more to do with mental health issues than just people piggin out.

Food can and does become a coping mechanism. It also is a addiction substitute.

I've known several people over my years that have had mental health issues and drug problems that where fat. Once they addressed the underlying problems the fat went away to a more manageable weight.

Don't be fooled by the fat happy folks saying embrace your body. Most may not be all that happy.

Big pharma is the new tobacco company.

Tobacco company: Smoking and cancer? Prove it. Here our labs say they don’t.

Big pharma: jab doesn’t work and in fact harms people? Prove it. Here our labs say otherwise.

I have authored a few threads pointing out the connection between obesity and higher risk from COVID, and I get flamed every time. I hope you wore your asbestos underwear.

And that is why I included a video with a staunch liberal saying the same. He hates conservatives with a passion so go ahead and bash me. It's not a party issue. It is a health issue being ignored by both parties. Completely ignored.

It's also more evidence that the government doesn't care about your health. If they did, they would not have deemed gyms and sports to be nonessential and shut them down. Those are two important tools to combat the exacerbating factors of COVID mortality.

The issue is that you have to address several issues.

A lot of processed food skews your taste palate. Food that's actually good for you and healthy will taste bad to most people because it's not overly larded down with salt, sugar, and fat. It's actually real food. And it takes time to get your body to rediscover the more subtle tastes of sweet, salt, etc., in that food and learn to appreciate it.

So it's hard to get people on to more healthy diets. They just don't taste good to start with.

I was helped enormously by not being a sweet tooth when I started out shedding the 50 lbs. I already liked the healthier food because it just tasted better to me, but I'm in the minority there.

Then you have to get people used to the smaller portion sizes. Healthy food doesn't necessary mean calorie poor, but you do have to watch your food intake. the amount of calories you can safely eat in a day without increasing your waistline goes by quickly. For example, I used cheese as a snack, and 100 cal of cheese is a really small amount. You have to learn how to measure/weigh it out and savor your food, and that takes time and effort until you get your "eye" in and get used to the new reality.

Reality is that most restaurant meals are actually two or even three. I'm fine with that. I just learn which ones are good as leftovers and count on eating from that place for a few days. Fast food is particularly egregious though because those helping heapings of calories come in single serving. But lucky for me, I never have liked fast food very much.

And then there is the issue that to do it properly, you aren't talking overnight transformation. To remove excess weight in a real way that has a chance of staying off, it's a slow, lifestyle changing process that can take months to years to achieve. You have to get people to buy in to it and be dedicated to it.

And none of that begins to address the issue surrounding physical activity.

I'm willing to bet that 78% of people who oppose masks and vaccines are fat.

I’ll take that bet. How much money you got?

I'm retired at 41 years old, and I've posted pictures of myself on here. I'm 200 pounds of vaccinated muscle. What you got? Post a pic.

I haven't taken a vax. I don't wear a mask. I stopped considering wearing a mask when the hospital I took my brother to, for a covid test, weren't following "mask protocol." They weren't wearing it correctly, sometimes not at all. Even in the office where they administered the test they were not "safe." Easily contradicting the "severity" narrative, and as usual, if I can point out the contradictions why would I follow?

I'm 31, 155 lbs., 5'9". My "overweight" almost 93 y.o. granny, who weighs under 100, I'm sure, hasn't taken a shot, but she does wear the mask. In fact, most of my buddies weigh over 200lbs and half have taken the jab. I also have several buddies who have naturally recovered from the sickness.

All these varying results just in my view, yet the government wants a "one-size-fits-all" measure. Don't be fooled, and remember. It's not about individual rights or freedom.

Obesity is a problem, an should be up to the individual to fix their own problem, not government.

Don’t get me started, on living healthy. That is the FIRST, thing I started working on when covid started. I lost 15lbs and started a healthy regiment diet. Once gyms were reopened I started hitting the gym. Cut my alcohol consumption down to maybe 1-2 cocktails a week. Before covid I drank everyday, and ate junk. One positive I can say about covid, I quit drinking everyday, and got in shape. The data shows that covid rarely kills or hospitalizes healthy people. Some things you have to do yourself and not rely on other people for. As a result, I feel really good more confident and feel healthy. I know that sounds corny but I feel much better than I did before covid-19. I can’t believe I drank so much, and ate so unhealthy. I would suggest to everyone to work on, if your not already, work on your health if you can.

Putting inedible food on a kids plate isn't the answer,. They need to healthier, simply not eatin doesn't achieve that.
