Is it where I left it?

My first response would definitely be getting my phone out and ask this question on ATS. Then wait to see what the people on the internet suggest before doing anything that might save the person on the ground.
No way would I use common sense.

I would step into a phone booth, change into my full PPE kit and then approach the body...

in a superman kind of way...

Check to see if they are still alive. If I determine they are deceased then I would call the police. While waiting for the police I would go all detective ( from a distance so as not to disturb the scene any further) to see if I could find any clues as to what happened. I am a weirdo, I know.

Find a wallet and, em, look for money and credit cards?

Look for jewelry and expensive shoes and, em, take them off to help this stranger?

That's the treatment I expect in the kind of neighborhood you'd find a body in the street in.

It would have to depend on the context and location. Even in most cases I would just call EMT and the cops to come take a look at the body. I'm not going anywhere near it as I assume that it could be someone playing possum.

I know there's a lot of Social Issues on people's minds lately, but I need some clarification.

If you are walking down the road and you see a body laying there, what do you do?

I've actually seen this scenario played out on some programs (don't ask which, I can't remember, might have just been some YT things). Most of the people will just walk by. A few good Samaritans will stop, but they're the exception rather than the rule. There have been a few cases of people dying on trains unnoticed, but that one I can understand better because people often sleep on trains. It would be more odd to go around waking everyone to make sure they're alive.

I think it comes down to basic social awkwardness. People who are uncomfortable would rather walk on then do anything. Shame, but true.

I'd need more context before making a decision. Do they look homeless? Passed out drunk? Wounded? What kind of neighborhood am I in? I for sure would sit and stare for a minute, checking to see if they are breathing. There was a time I came across a dude in a wheel chair. After midnight, and right outside of a fast food place. This person had a big white sheet covering them up entirely. I could only see their feet. Somebody was mopping in the store and noticed too, but didn't do anything. I took a picture and went on my way.

Came back a few minutes later, to investigate further, but a big van had pulled up in front of this person. Looked like a lady driving, possibly in scrubs. I can't recall, but after making eye contact with her I just kept walking. The next morning, the person was no longer there.

See if they're alive, or dead, and make a 911 call accordingly.

If they're dead, then there's nothing I can do, and I'd be pretty tempted to just call it in, and leave. I don't see the logic of babysitting a corpse, as cold as it sounds. I can't bring 'em back /shrug

I'm not doing a damn thing beyond that, because it's just a lawsuit waiting to happen to a good samaritan. It's a consequence of a society that sues over every little thing -- I'm not putting anything on the line that I don't have to in that regard, because too many people being helpful when it actually counted, have been punished for it.

Help em out , whatever they need at that moment , ambulance or hearse.

There is a dutch law that demands you help people in critical need.

You haven't just found a body and come to ATS to ask what to do have you?
