Go to your local military hospital. Ask for the iDES rep. Might be located outside of the facility.

The doc who does the evaluation is usually well sheltered from general inquiries, so be ready for a stonewalling when you get to that point.

I hope you made a complete copy of your military medical records.

File for compensation and all of a sudden your records can not be found.

You must prove disability is connected to your military service.

l believe it is. But as you know us Vietnam Vets records are like finding a needle in a haystack.
I just need to apply, but l live outside the States
I just dont know where to begin. or who to contact.

Unless it has changed....your original medical records should be in St. LOUIS, MISSOURI, also where your DD214 is.

You probably also qualify for SSI which is often much more than standard Social Security.

That’s so true. My old RSM said HIS RSM joined the Army so long ago they didn’t have numbers, they all new each other’s name lol

Ordered my medical records in early 2019.

Still haven't received anything...oh, and my claim expired so I lost all that momentum and arrears.

Be prepared to be disappointed at times but don't give up the fight because they are counting on you NOT being vigilant.

I talked to a Navy medic in Okinawa he said the VA is more frieendly these days whit claims
