I slept threw the first few bands, pretty calm here in GP. Just got back from the coffee shop, barista said they'll close by 2pm.

They're predicting 150mph sustained winds with 175mph gusts. That's pretty gnarly!

Landfall approx 4hrs away.

This guy has a good live stream

On Arrakis they are called Coriolis storms. But on Arrakis there are no oceans and it doesn't rain.

*It's almost October*

And be careful.

Lest you forget it did rain, and the worms all die that produced the spice they used to fold space. Thus, ended the ability to control every planet in their known Universe. The symbology should not be lost on us about the control by the "masters" being removed.

Reporting a 15-foot storm surge right now.

Also, to your point, during Katrina NOLA was on the easy side of the hurricane, with the primary winds blowing south, out into the gulf, with less than maximum storm surge.

This time, NOLA iss on the west side.

Up to 150 mph now. Pressure is at 936mb, a 50mb drop in less than 24 hours. Very near cat 5 strength, however it appears the surface winds have not yet caught up to the pressure drop.

Praying Ida has peaked and the levees will hold.

Looks like the slightly colder Mississippi River is helping to check that down as it spins a bit more west to find it's energy now I see the last few hours.

Down to 930mb now, it may have peaked. Winds still at 150mph.

New Orleans will be on the nasty side.

Ida is a bit more compact than Katrina was, hopefully this will limit the surge potential.

Weird coincidence that it is exactly 16 year, almost to the hour, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in that same place...

This is a great surge chart. So far only minor to moderate flooding, unfortunately that will change.

5' of surge in Mississippi already.vl

No way this was deliberate IMO. Katrina did show some very strange Radar signals IIRC. Square shaped eye like nothing I have ever seen before or since.
What HAARP might be doing if they are capable would be very subtle because so many people are gobbling up every bit of electronic data with high power sensors they can.

I hope whore-aldo is staying really hydrated right now, and practicing his signature wailing about humanity!

On a serious note, for those in the path stay safe and keep your head's down.

I remember that radar signal. And it is really the most bizarre of coincidences.

Crazy high winds being reported by recon, over 160mph. However they maybe inaccurate as the SFMR radar is not good at estimating winds in shallow water.

Regardless, Ida is very near cat 5 strength. The difference between 150mph and 156mph is not noticeable.

The satellite view is breathtaking.

We had a friend who moved back to NOLA a while ago. It was his hometown. I wonder if he's still there, and if he is, I hope he's safe.
