I know similar videos such as this have been posted before.

These machines are amazing.

I am still waiting for the punchline they are humans in those dot suits for cgi purposes for movies etc.

Talk about uncanny valley! I don't know why these videos always make me kind of uncomfortable. My mind always stretches back to HAL9000.

As wondrous as this all is imagine what these robots will do in 30 years time.

Since the Military has said that they are 25-30 years ahead of whatever is out in the public/worlds knowledge, imagine what these robots will do in 30 years time. Because what were witnessing isn't close, but now you have an inkling of an idea of what 'probably really' exist with robotics.

If you can imagine it.. Military R&D has already explored it.

I've been following them for some time and have been posting videos here as the tech has gotten better and better. I know this video is real, but the way they move with such ease looks like CGI.

Remember the three rules. There can only be one outcome.

The scary part is this is what they want the public to see. The tech is mind blowing from recent videos.

I would hate to see what has been developed behind the black curtain.

I wonder if those micro movements that make it seem more human (e.g., the tiny lean from side-to-side as it runs, the very slight head/torso bob as it jumps, etc.) are intentionally programmed to add more stability, or is it just there for show to make them seem more lifelike (for PR purposes).

Humans do those micromovements naturally -- and I suppose it is done by humans for stability.

I don't know about that, as the military in the east were using Boston Dynamics four legged robot to carry supplies less than ten years ago.

I personally think the new tech is awesome. I can't wait to get a pizza delivered by drone

I always think of the movie Westworld. You know where Yul Brynner's character says "Nothing can go wrong....go wrong."

Hyundai acquired Boston Dynamics last December. I don't like that one bit since the Japanese are our main competitors in robotics and aready make the best industrial bots

Interesting fact about Boston Dynamics is that it is fully owned by Hyundai Motor Group.

Heres the vid.

I dont know what everyone is worried about. Its not like robots are being deployed already or anything. But, if there were criticisms can be hand-waved away as:

Most people are applying notions from science fiction to what the robot’s doing.

So, its totally cool because

Spot is a very good robot — well-behaved and not so smart after all (...) If you tell it to go to the left, it will go to the left. If you tell it to stop, it will stop.

It will absolutely do what its told by the benevolent authorities and

the company's acceptable use guidelines prohibit Spot’s weaponization or anything that would violate privacy or civil rights laws, which he said puts the Honolulu police in the clear

They have like.. guidelines and stuff!

Wonder if all those chip shortages are related. Thatd be silly though
