Beginning to see more and more protests. Would have really thought Australia would have gone off before now, doesn't seem like a lot of people, however. Each person arrested will be fined $5,452 for breaching lockdown restrictions, the spokeswoman said. There were 218 arrests

Anti-lockdown protesters clash with police in Melbourne, smaller demonstrations in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth

Police say 218 people were arrested and six officers were hospitalised after today's violent anti-lockdown protests in Melbourne.

Key points:
Flares were let off as largely maskless protesters moved through Melbourne's CBD
Police warned anyone apprehended or identified as having attended the protest would be fined more than $5,000
Smaller demonstrations took place elsewhere in the country
A Victoria Police spokesperson said more than 4,000 people attended the protest.

Thousands of demonstrators were seen breaking police lines near Parliament House in Spring Street, where the demonstration started.

Violence erupted as mostly unmasked demonstrators moved through the CBD towards Flinders Street station, letting off flares and chanting slogans.

The most violent scenes were seen at Flinders Street, with protesters throwing objects at police, who responded with pepper spray.
Police arrested 218 people, including three in custody for assaulting officers, and issued 236 fines.

Each person arrested will be fined $5,452 for breaching lockdown restrictions, the spokeswoman said.

Investigations will continue into the protest.

Earlier, Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Shane Patton urged people not to attend the protest.

"It is tagged as it is a 'freedom demonstration'. It's anything but," he said.

If you want to be locked down longer...this the way to do it.

How can freedom come at such expense that personal freedom is more important than community safety.

If you want to protest, protest. If you want to run through the city shirtless and maskless, do so and expect a reaction.

Because this is OVER REACH. On a grand scale. There is nothing that warrants this level of lockdown. Community Safety? Given the number of protests, there should be thousands of cases... not 6 or so people who were over 60 and died from complications.

No, people with your mindset, are the ones creating more lockdowns.

They shouldn’t have given their guns away and more people need to stand up.

Can people just quit with that? ffs, no one, not even in the USA, is running around armed and protesting, and being a force of power against this.

You have guns.. Where are your protests against this plandemic? I don't see any difference between having guns and not, here.

Care to quote the cases of hospitalizations and deaths in Australia? They have been locked down more than most countries and they still haven't got it figured out.

FTR

They arrested (218) almost half of the total COVID hospitalized patients for all of Australia. In a country of 25 million-plus people.

But that’s just it: there can be no “community safety” unless and until there are individual liberties.

Tyrannical systems ALWAYS use ‘community safety’ to deprive the individual of Liberty. This assumes that always and everywhere, an individual’s life—YOUR life—has no right to anything except what others grant you. Further, that YOUR rights are conditional, based on arbitrary circumstances and the need of the crowd. Ironic, since a ‘community’ is nothing more than a collection of individuals.

The way these protestors are doing it is wrong, they need to stay at home and protest at their front gates. Have a silent protest.

As much as I hate what the Andrews gubment is doing.

These protestors need to realise why cop a financial penalty that lines the gubment pocket.

Yes, because standing silently outside your door, where precisely no one gives a flying # if you do, is going to do anything.

But rolling over, and aiming the hind end upward with cheeks wide, is the way to protest. Such inspiring, strong tactics you got there

I ain’t bending over for anyone, this is exactly what the gubment want people to do is mass protest. So you look Like an embarrassment to yourself, and get mocked for it.
You need to be smarter than them.

Don’t give them a reason to arrest you.

They are making up reasons to arrest people every second day. What do you suggest, take the vaccine? sit at home while your business loses thousands of dollars and people cant afford to remain employed?

Close their eyes and pretend it's over soon?

Really, do tell?

You seem to have a hard time seeing the forest through the trees, can you really not see the big picture here what this is all really about?

All these protestors are doing is giving the gubment amunition to force further lockdowns, with the excuse due to unmasked protestors, we have had an increase in exposures, hence we extend lockup.

We need to be smarter that the gubment.

We need to allow restrictions to be eased so small business can get back to it, and give em a leg up.
