Nature abhors a vacuum and as the US sinks to 2nd world status far behind China in terms of economic and trade influence and power, there's no doubt tha Europe feels threatened, now realizing that the US military power and scope is in serious decline. They are dependent upon Russia for natural gas and doubtless finding themselves ever more dependent upon imports from China. Truthfully the world is sinking slowly into a state of chaos and the next economic collapse of western economies will be apocalyptic in terms of societal damage.

Enjoy what you have for the moment because things only go downhill and fast from here.

I think everything is planned and part of the NWO agenda.

All the countries are "talking" as usual, just the MSM is telling you different.

If the NWO gains from unrest in the middle east, and political uncertainty in the US and Europe than maybe yku are corrected.

The US military decline is an interesting addition to the topic.

It's not just that the US retreated from the world; which implies they can come back if they wanted. After this debacle the US military is going to have a serious lack of trust in their leaders and bad moral. They can't so easily come back if the need arises.

France is 7th and the UK 8th in the Global power index , we spend plenty.
www.globalfirepower.com...

According to the CNN article it must not be enough.

A crisis like the one unfolding in Afghanistan has, for some, hammered home the bleak reality that, without America, Europe's immediate ability to control its own destiny is limited.

The main problem with that is it's a CNN article.

The UK is the number one soft power in the world, which is the use of non-military tactics to project power, influence and control world events. While it's true we rely heavilly on the US in military endeavous but that's not the main focus of UK foreign affairs it's unfair of CNN to claim our capacity is limited when the US abandonned its allies without notice.

If we'd have had a reason for being there or the US had given its allies advanced warning it was going to cut and run then there's a tiny chance troops would remain (highly unlikely as the Taliban were always going to take control).. UK forces took the lead in rescuing US, UK and Afghani civillians in recent days while US forces were ordered to cower within the safety of the airport.

The only reason we got involved was to support the US in the wake of 9/11. Given how that good intention has been exploited we have no reason to clean up the US' mess after them.

As usual the US will do everything it can to stop any refugees entering its borders despite creating the problem in the first place and will expect Europe to absorb the influx and incoming wave of terror attacks as thanks for us being their poodle for the last 20 years.

The real reason the EU is upset is, the US fuc#### off after kicking the hornets nest that is the ME. Syria, Iran, Iraq, the stan, yeah the US were the main players, yes they put America first, always have. Nato and allies have just been aboard for the ride. Kick the hornets nest in the EUs back yard then run.
2015 migrant crisis?????????? It never stopped and for the UK it's worse now. In the UK and the EU, NATO and the US has done Jack sh## to stop or contain the flood of migrants, so take that off the table.
And as for a transatlantic alliance, who in gods name wants an alliance with the train wreck of Biden and his administration.
It's been said before, no matter what if they think they are the Worlds policeman they aint. They've caused more trouble going into countries they shouldn't have been going into. Their admins have caused more innocent military lives deaths trying to push their way of life and their agenda, for what???? To walk away and leave the countries to go back to their own ways.

Yea, the collapse at the Pentagon is phenomenal and I havent really kept up with it. I had seen articles after the election indicating that a significantly large number of the top Brass at the Pentagon and other locations had quit/retired in disgust. Apparently the problem runs much deeper thant that however. For instance I have run across several articles about the total state of dishevelment of the US Navy.

I would "guess" the next embarrasement will be the China takeover of Taiwan and I would guess that will be in combination form, with the Chinese infiltrating Taiwan and its leadership while demoralizing the population followed by a midnight lightning blitz attack of the island itself. The Biden administration will be left to utter profanities of outrage at the UN as China next eyes the Phillipines.

Europe's leaders have Biden's measure and now the people do too. We elected the functional equivalent of an expired can of chicken soup. No one with any sense relies on that.

And when that's what the people supposedly elected, the problem is bigger than Biden.

The bigger problem is the bungling incompetent idiot is costing innocent American lives. That's not a travesty of justice, it's a crime against humanity. The man MUST be held accountable. but wont.

There should be war crimes charges issued againt Biden with him being held culpable for the summary executions, torture, rape and attacks on civillians occuring because of his actions.

Pretty certain Trump was investigated by the UN in 2019 for the facilitating the war crimes Turkey committed against the Kurds (summary executions, torture and rape) yet there's been complete silence on Biden when the Afghan catasttrophe has been 1000s times greater.

From a Brit.

So the article doesn't really address any ramifications that the British will see from this botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Now that the UK has existed from the EU; are you still obligated to take your share of refugees or paying for their relocation?

On the exits from the EU I'm not on top of whether we are "obligated to take our share of refugees or paying for their relocation" Dandandat.

Britain has always taken its fair share of refugees / economic migrants from Europe and Asia during times when they need a new home.

People generally head west when migrating, maybe they like the afternoon sun, maybe they like something else. We've always taken our fair share and most Brits accept this is the basis of our generational wafer like settled island.

The very first human settlers of in modern times who made it into the island of Great Britain came from the same region, Iraq to be precise, pretty much the same region as Afghanistan.
