Once there was a man who thought himself smarter than the rest of the world, because someone once told him the solution to a riddle that couldn't be
answered
The answer to the riddle he was given was simple; "It couldn't be answered. It could only be pondered, considered, admired, and, or, by many,
despised"
Though the man had not a true answer to the riddle that had puzzled and perplexed all others for generations, he felt rather content in himself to be
one of those who understood that the answer was in the asking
He then took it up and upon himself to write the riddle down. He wrote it upon both sides of a piece of paper, with instructions underneath the
riddle, telling any who would read it, to turn the paper over for the answer
But of course, when they turned the paper over, all they found was the riddle written again on the other side, and underneath it, once again, a
message telling them to turn over for the answer
The man and the others who wrote it down, found no end of amusement in watching others trying to answer the riddle
Especially in those who would turn the paper over more than once, even though they should know already, very well, what was written on the other
side
They found so much sport in it, they began using it to identify and judge the intelligence and worthiness of those who would read and turn the paper
over
Those who would stop reading before the end of the second side of the paper, were those the determined to have the potential to be their equal. Maybe
they could even be taught in time, the truth about the riddle being unanswerable
Those who would keep turning the piece of paper over and over, were considered to be too simple to bother with. They keep asking, they will likely
never understand, even if we tell them
But one day, some time later, the riddle was answered
Not the answer "that it could not be answered", but a true answer
Not just one person, but many people, came forth. And all of them had the answer to things that were thought unanswerable
And none of them were with those who thought they knew the answer
When this happened ...
When this "happens" ...
Everyone who ever thought of, read, or even knew about the riddle come to realise that the simplest of understandings was indeed the correct
Those who kept turning the page over and over, were those who truly understood that the answer to the question was in the asking
Because they kept asking it. No matter how many times they were beaten down, rejected, dejected, or denied, they kept trying
Whilst those that thought they understood that the question was the answer, actually stopped asking
Which means, they never actually understood any of the things they thought they knew
Worse, others understood by what they had written, that they never really understood what they thought they knew ...
Though they knew the keys to the answer in theory, they never truly understood it
So much so, they gave up the potential and beauty within its knowing
Which is in the giving
Imagine if you will, if everybody in this world suddenly stopped teaching the next generation. Because explaining complex things to children is too
much hard work
I wouldn't worry about it
Shepherds who don't tend to their flock have no sheep
Which means, they are not really Shepherds
They are just sad, with a long useless stick/staff
