I was unaware of the restrictions on criminals voting, though this makes it obvious they exist. It shouldn't matter if they vote or not if the vote doesn't matter.

That was from a time back when there used to be punishment for breaking laws. If convicted of a felony you lost the right to vote and own firearms straight away. A felony conviction meant you were not fulfilling your civic duty and were not the type of person who should be tasked with voting for elected officials, including judges. Today it seems like a short cut to political office.

The same reason we're discussing this on a forum rather than doing anything tangible about it. We should have done something on October 26th 2001, I think that was the real point of no return. We're locked into it now and even with action there will be no positive change.

America will fall into anarchy, is coming and is going to be unavoidable, as of today we do not have a government in place, no even a president, just what resembles a president.

The plan of democrats is to destroy America completely so they can stop all freedoms and constitutional rights, because the nation is in chaos.

Welcome to the new normal.

Make sure to barbwire you properties, because if covid does not come to get you and kill you the new normal will.

Good luck my friends.

They don’t plan to make America fall; they simply plan to replace the weak office of President with something like “first citizen” (princeps) or “the commander” (imperator).

They will keep the institution of the Senate, as proof that we are a democracy. Though the seats will be for life, and granted by the Commander. One of the Roman imperators made his favorite horse a senator....

They don’t teach it in school now, but the senate continued to meet and deliberate, even during the reigns of Nero and Caligula. The senate met until the 500s AD, even though it only controlled the part of Rome that the invaders and the pope didn’t want.

Rome ALWAYS claimed it was a democracy. The leader was just the protector of the people.

I’m sure there will be a senate for hundreds of years, even when its authority has shrunk to the size of the Vatican.

Honestly?
It's the parts that make you mad. Nothing more.

If it is such a "good" bill, then why did Schumer have to try to sneak it into law in the dead of night when he thought no one was looking that could stand in his way?

Quite honestly, I have always felt that Chuck Schumer is just exceptionally slimy, and have felt that way about him for as long as I can remember.

There is unfortunately no Cincinnatus to be found. Oh we have plenty of would be dictators, just none that can solve the problem and walk away. Most fail to recognize that there is a problem. The rest are lifers that would continue on serving not one day less that they feel they are entitled.

On the other side of the coin, we have no end of would be Diogenes...other that that whole intelligent debate part. Cynical, naked dogs living in a wine...plenty of those around.

At the very least he delayed the "For The Democrats" Act which would ensure Federal Elections would be permanently rigged by law with unaccountable mail in voting and "Legalized" ballot harvesting. This would ensure rigged elections for the Democrats for decades to come solidifying their one party rule.

citizenfreepress.com...

Chuck Schumer brought HR1 – SR 1 to the floor around 3:30 a.m. after the Senate had concluded 15 hours of amendment votes on a $3.5 trillion budget resolution. In the dead of night, Schumer sought to pass the federal overhaul of elections by unanimous consent, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Only one objection by a senator was required to stop the process. In a roughly 15-minute back-and-forth, Cruz tanked Schumer’s attempt to force the election bill through the Senate.

“This bill would constitute a federal government takeover of elections. It would constitute a massive power grab by Democrats.

It would disenfranchise millions of Americans and it would do precisely the opposite of its nominal title, ‘For The People.’ It is, instead, for the politicians because it entrenches politicians and ensures that the people cannot vote them out of office.

It would strike down virtually every reasonable voter integrity law in the country, including voter I.D. laws supported by the overwhelming majority of this country, including prohibitions on ballot harvesting, again widely supported by people in this country. It would mandate that felons be allowed to vote, and it would automatically register millions of illegal aliens to vote. It would profoundly undermine democracy in this country, and for that reason I object.”

I love how we can take Ted Cruz seriously when it comes to voter integrity but not Mike Lindell.

The bill though has some good and bad

I'm curious, in your opinion, what's good about it?

It's why I think in a truly free society, felons that have served their time should have all rights restored.

I'd say 90% of them should. There's a few that I'll draw the line at, mostly violent crimes. We have made too many things felonies, so that our politicians can make themselves look like they are tough on crime.

I heard on the news Ted Cruz was the leader of the new Jim Crow movement. Funny how different people see the same set of events in different ways.

When all you have is a hammer, everything's a nail. Racism is the hammer for the Liberal Socialists. It's the only tool in their tool box.

Have you “done your time” if out on probation?

Also, if an 18 year old can’t buy a handgun, a beer or pack of cigarettes...why are they responsible enough to vote?

Thank you Mr. Cruz!!!

I think Republicans and libertarians should plan to always have people available to object 24/7 to any treachery like the one they tried to pull on the American people.

My thought exactly. The dems are straight treasonous. They will destroy us unless we I intervene and water the tree of liberty with em all.
There are a few GOP that need to swing too.

If you can not get your ballot postmark by XX date dropping it off in any mailbox including the one at your house WTF???? You have the damn thing for like a month.

Should we also wipe these people's asses too? 10 days after is still a drop dead date right, so that date can be anything even 5 days before if we want and it means the same thing to the population as a drop dead date to vote. The big difference is it opens up a small window where people on either side can manipulate the votes, and at the lower levels where 100 votes could make a difference this would be bad.

How hard is it in 2021 to make sure a legal voter is...

1. One that is alive
2. One that is a US citizen
3. One that votes within the country they live
4. One that gets their vote in on time for the election date
5. One that can be verified that all above is true

Is there one person on ATS that thinks what I wrote above is wrong?

It's all political and not based on any type of reality.

You can be 10 and assign your own gender, be 14 and get an abortion.

Same reason some people can sign up for a credit card without having the income to sustain it, or buy a gym membership they use barely twice a month for a couple months and then get bored with. The most "successful" of business and political leaders don't care about the voters, they care about the industry that exploits voters.

That's what the audit is for, but apparently it costs too much money and makes too many officials nervous. Isn't it funny how we can apparently put a ridiculously indulgent billionaire on a space cruise but we can't muster the resources to confirm our election integrity is peak.

¯|_(ツ)_/¯
