People that went through the Great Depression overcame true adversity, but we can all attest they carried the burden throughout their lives.

My grandma was a young lady during the Great Depression, let me tell you she did not waste one scrap of food. I remember my grandma making
a dish with spam, she got a spoon and ate the fat left in the tin. I know, that sounds horrible and disgusting. That is what happens when people were faced with true starvation in the past....

This generation of kids/young folks. I worry, I think about the chunks of education they are missing. Will they ever catch up? The fear and anxiety is almost etched into them at this point. I have a child in this age group. I've had to talk about the positive things, resiliency, staying strong.
I think it's been 100% fear, worry, uncertainties shoved down our throat 24/7. I think about people that don't have strong family units.. My goodness, those poor kids.

What the heck is this going to look like in 10 years?

Some of my thoughts..
Germaphobes
massive social issues, social skills, relationship skills!!
possibly a very lonely generation
more people will be pushed down in the economic ladder

The positives
The pendulum always swings back and forth. I think more will look into natural cures vs mainstream medical
I think we are going to be thrust into a new digital age (even more so than now)
People will question more

People are people. Sure, we will respond/react to environment. When I was 19 i had some crazy notions. Its unsurprising that kids today have crazy ideas too.

Gen Z will be fine. Just because you see whackadoo's with purple hair on the news...that isn't the population at large. Thats just the people outrageous enough to get a camera pointed on them.

Idiocracy.

China.

Class of government employees and a class of peasants living in fear. No upward mobility unless born into the mid tier gov families. Everyone else is locked out. Maybe a trade school but forget about becoming a doctor or lawyer or scientist. Not happening.

Gen Z will kinda be like the Greatest Generation, but their children in open rebellion will save us kinda like the Baby Boomers did. They will waste things because of germs or vote away their freedoms. In fact they may end up ultra conservative compared to even Gen X that had so many Reaganites that Trump was elected over Hillary (the chosen one). Gen Z got you Joe....because Covid.

Beyond politics, Gen Z will be a brain damaged generation. No 3 second rule. No crowds. No strangers. No venues. No future. No self determination. No risks. Failed marriages. Children that learn early to fend for themselves.

I think they will come through the other side of covid just fine. It's all of the other woke commie crap that is going to see them in a worse place than we, their elders, have been.

Same as always. There will be those who end up angry and bitter, those who fear everything, and then the people doing what they can to eke out a meager life just to pay taxes and die while those at the top continue being rich and doing whatever they want.

Yes of course people will be people, but like I mentioned the Great depression had a profound impact on a huge portion of that generation. So much of an impact that people still talk about how that generation would not waste anything. (not sure how old you are but maybe you are one generation too far removed to remember it)

I think we are going to see something similar here. I'm not quite sure how it will play out.

YES!! This is what I'm talking about. Sometime the outcome is actually surprising.
When things get pushed so far in one direction the opposite happens.

I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as the Great Depression.

It's only certain areas that education has sucked for the last year and a half. I haven't had any issues here in GA.

My kids have been in school and are doing great. Still socializing and having fun outdoors. Only issue was going out to eat at restaurants for a while.

I have taught them not to fear things by learning to understand and think logically about them.

My guess is at some point this will be the next dividing line with folks...those in states that were not locked down will have a clear advantage in the workforce and education....and I am fine with that.

I think the biggest losers in all of this will be the young children of millenials....mainly because millennials are the ones that have lost their minds prior to Covid hitting. They show fear of everything and their children see it constantly. There is nobody in their life that shows calm and thoughtful reactions. It is all hair on fire and activism with millenials.....they are the most useless generation of people that has ever been produced.

Now, I am not saying a blanket statement that ALL millenials are like this, but definitely a heavy majority.

Just a picture of a moment in time. And the edict has been declared that 50% of all vehicles should at least be hybrids if not full electric by 2030.

You should do another on same date this year. Regular has already doubled in most places from you pic.

Know a handful of Gen Z's who left college and went into vocational trades. They simply couldn't do the video distance learning (don't blame them). But they have excellent work ethic, and are finding real opportunities in unsexy-but-critical stuff like keeping the power on.

Compared to the Millennials who needed playground equipment in the workplace and expected a corner office the first day... absolutely no comparison at all.

How will Gen Z emerge from this?

Much better than if it had not happened.
Think about it.
First, no more social security recipients. All dead.
Second, no more disabled parking spots. Again all dead.
Third, job openings galore. Doctor, lawyer, mechanic . . . and no prior experience required,
Fourth, lots of empty houses and abandoned F-250 pickup trucks.

My god man . . . If I was Gen Z, I'd be tickled as punch.
Future so bright gotta wear shades . . . just have to wait about, what?, six months maybe?

Sounds like it is etched into you.

They are not worrying about what things will look like in 10 years, you are.

Ha...no truer words spoken....they don't think about the future at all...it is all about feelings and NOW....just like children.

Well the OP did say kids/young folk.

Kids are children and young folk were just children.

And, it isn't like that is something exclusive to this generation.

I tend to disagree.
In this day and age, Debbie does Dallas would never happen.

Today....we have the woke.
Here is reality today.

"Debbie does the woke"

It consists of a porn movie that is 90 minutes long but is actually 85 minutes of lawyers, 30 minutes of signing papers to make sure it is ok to hopefully touch each other, and then....60 minutes of both parties feeling guilty about what they are going to do, but hoping its ok so they don't get sued....thats woke porn and more than likely....thats the future.

I have 0 hope for the future.....kids, teens, and the young "men" that we call men these days are soft.

Here is something I love saying to these weirdos in hopes they "get it"
You identify as "this" or "that" and I am supposed to respect it and just take it on board and be on board...what if i identify myself as a flute and expect others to blow me and /or leave me alone??? (I would get sued until I have nothing)
HMMMMM?????

These kids today are basically retarded IMO.
If they don't have the internet or facebook...they are "losers"
With minds like this, old or young...we are screwed.
