Why should a student do the work, if the teachers aren't allowed to flunk 'em, if they've earned it?
Can you show us in the bill where it says that teachers can't grade students as usual, assigning grades A though F?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but It's my understanding of the bill, that it temporarily suspends the ability of the Board of Education to deny diplomas to qualifying kids that have completed their credits and have already passed their classes, until 2023.

Students still need to take the SATs if they want to go to college.
Actually my son's college waved SATs, went with GPA and classes he took.
The United States is 25th in the world on education.....
.... and laws like this in no way are going to improve that standing

Oregon Governor Kate Brown quietly signed a bill last month that removed the requirement for graduating high school children in the state to be proficient in reading, writing, and math, in an effort to aid “students of color.”
the governor’s deputy communications director, Charles Boyle, told the Oregonian that suspending the reading, writing, and math proficiency requirements would benefit “students of color”
Boyle said that “leaders from those communities have advocated time and again for equitable graduation standards"

Oregon Democrat Governor Kate Brown has signed a bill into law that removes the requirement to be able to read, write, and do basic math to graduate high school. Her official reasoning was that it will be fair to black students, or "students of color". Apparently her and her administration feel that it isn't fair to expect black students to be able to read and write or do basic math, because it isn't an "equitable graduation standard". In other words, they believe blacks aren't as capable of reading and writing and therefore can't be held to the same standards as whites.
Time has shown us that the liberals and Democrats have a history of this mentality - that blacks need their help because they can't get by on their own. I'm reminded time and time again of the video of the liberal college student trying to explain that requiring voter IDs is racist because black people don't know how to use the internet to figure out how to get IDs.
Here's an open challenge for anyone at all: Defend this without saying something that would have you labelled a racist.

Say it isn't so! You mean to tell me colleges are actually taking kids based on their high school academic records rather than have them take a test to prove they can read, write and do maths?!!

They still have to have meet their credits requirements and have to have passed all their required classes to get a diploma. Doesn't that show adequate skills?

I never took a test to graduate high school, and went on to college. I even graduated Magna cum laude. This is much to do about nothing. It's a test. They still have to have all the necessary credits.
