I notice it explicitly says rich.

Are they implying black people cannot be rich? They cannot succeed in business? Hmm…

Must be. And in that case, I dunno how the # Rihanna became a billionaire, AND is black, at the same time.

^^ It's "/sarc", for you dumb ones (not Ohanka)

It actually would be an interesting Elseworlds story. Much like Red Son looked at an alternate origin for Superman (what would happen if Kal-El landed in Soviet Russia), a spin on Batman: Year One where Batman doesn't have limitless resources right off the bat and is instead someone actually living in the squalor of Gotham and must make do with what he can find could definitely provide a fresh perspective on the character.

Batman needs to be rich.

So would Brice Wayne made his billions, which would show that if a blacks person is smart enough and works hard enough, they can get super rich

Would his parents be rich, would would show that some how racism isn’t as bad that as the left wishes it was.

A black Superman can work, they have a couple of them in their comic arsenal already that are not Clark Kent/Kal-El. If you're going to go with a black Superman, go with one of the pre-existing ones, no need to take away from the original.

I watched Falcon and The Winter Soldier and I know there was some divisiveness there with race theme. However they did it correctly, they didn't take the mantle of Captain America from Steve Rogers. He "retired" and it went to who it should have in the context of the comics and story. Also if you didn't watch the show, turns out there's another person who has that mantle as well, he's not Steve Rogers and his story takes nothing away from the original Captain America. In fact it works out quite well because it's exactly the kind of crap the US government did to blacks during wartime. It makes for a compelling character that stands on his own and I don't have to throw out Steve Rogers to want to know more about this Cap.

As for burdman, I agree, Batman is a super rich guy, he has to be in order to be Batman. I don't care if he was born into it, had to work his rear off for it, or was given it, he's got to be a rich guy. He doesn't have to be Bruce Wayne, hell make him some random dude that has had all sorts of experience with violence and crime and wants to do something about it. Turns out he wins the lottery, gets an inheritance, has a great career that can help fund things, and he goes on to become a vigilante like Batman. I'd be totally fine with that, it doesn't remove Bruce Wayne from the picture.

I love Idris Elba as an actor, that role was not meant to be for a black person. You have to understand the context of the world that King develops and work with that. It would be like having Susannah as a white woman, it just isn't going to work in the context of the story. That's a pretty solid story point where Susannah shows up and the people of that world have never seen a black woman before. It adds some depth and gravity to the fact they're in an alternate universe.

It's definitely got a lot more potential than some of the elseworlds tales. If some one was born in Gotham city, had good parents and Batman's intellect but was poor and a minority, what would happen? IT would be great to put him up against the court of owls. Or see how differently he would respond to Ras Al Ghul's pitch about society.

Black Lanterns did exist in the comics, it's comprised of a bunch of dead beings. They also have violet lanterns, which is as close as you're going to get in the comics to pink.

Husband said that was already done by DC in a version of Batman - Nighthawk he was called. He was part of an alternate Justice League and he was like BLM personified to the point where he wouldn't help the Justice League unless they were working to save those he considered oppressed and you can guess who they were. He even had problems helping the Justice League because *they* were white.

As you can imagine, having a character take the views to that extreme caused problems and the character didn't last long.

Batwing? I mean the obvious problem is that even Batwing had his toys funded by the Wayne family wealth. I'm sorry, but there's just no possible way to have a Batman style superhero who depends entirely on technology rather than inate superpowers who is also dirt poor outside of intriducing some manner of wealthy benefactor... in which case the entire concept sort of goes out the window, ya?

We already have a Red Hulk and a Red She-Hulk. We also had Amadeus Cho take over as Hulk for a while.

There's also a whole color spectrum of other Lantern Corps including Black, Indigo, and Star Sapphire (Pink).

What about Lunella Lafayette? Her whole gimmick is pretty much that (plus a dinosaur.) She's a less affluent girl who's so brilliant that she's able to make all manner of inventions out of junk she repurposes.

The same could also go for Peter Parker. He came up with most of his inventions on a shoestring budget in his aunt's basement.

The market is the ultimate decider.

I liked the tv show The Equalizer but I also think Denzel Washington made it awesome in movie form.

Batman doesn't rely entirely on technology. In fact several of his best stories are about him having to be batman with none of Bruce Wayne's resources. The idea that someone who is supposed to be a genius and martial arts master can't build a batarang or capture a criminal without a super computer is not a very compelling argument.

Idk, how Black are we talking? A Batmobile with massive bass speakers, and the Batsuit all blinding everyone can't see him, in a twisted way.

It was rumored back then that one of the Wayans brother was supposed to play Robin if Burton made a third movie.

Agree on some of those, but depending on the storyline Peter Parker is pretty much on par with Reed Richards in intelligence. So you have to be one super genius to come up with the stuff he can. The same can be said of Moon Girl, super genius. Batman is a smart guy, but at the end of the day he doesn't have super human intellect like some of the others. Then again in terms of powers, aside from the money aspect, and the fact that Batman isn't overly fond of killing, he's not that much different from the Punisher at the end of the day. Both vigilantes, both go against superhuman foes, just a bit of a different style to them. So I could see a Batman without the wealth, you just don't need to repurpose Bruce Wayne into an ethnicity that he's never been.

Bruce inherited his money.

His parents made it.

Two biggest flaws in modern society.

The Death Tax would put Bruce in the poor house, and Bruce would never have been born because it's more convenient for single moms to abort their kids.

More powerful story eh.

I guess so if you ignore modern life.
