One of my neighbors has a couple of god damn high-pitched ankle biters. One's the stereotypical Chihuahua, the other's the stereotypical Pomeranian -- neither of the two STFU once they get going.

I don't know what the hell they were outside barking at, but either one of the mutts got spooked or got hurt, and started yelping. My husband and I were outside sitting out back, and he asked me, "Huh. Wonder what that was all about, didn't sound pleasant..."


Now, sometimes my mind-to-mouth filter completely fails, and stuff just falls out as fast as it formulates. Which is exactly what happened.


My response: "Well, it SOUNDS like someone's fluffy four-legged football just got butt-#ed by the Big Toe."

I just spent a week in the woods which was wonderful although for some of the time I was wondering if everything I have built for the last 20 years was going to burn down.

I found at the bottom of a mine after spending some time there in the darkness that there is something that I have not thought through but I want to think through.

For an answer.

But I kept being interrupted.

Sorry if that didn't make much sense, but I've not thought in English for a week and it was... inspiring.

My friends think I am crazy to go back without them but I am leaving tomorrow.

And I am firing my house sitter because she was on my computer and charged stuff to my Amazon account.

She is a daughter of a friend of mine and she wanted some time alone so I let her hang out at my house while I was gone.

You know, to answer the phone calls, sell my produce, riffle through my wet bar...

Let me help you.

In the civilized world here, when there is a forest fire and the property is in danger of being burnt, they first put the property on a pre-evacuation notice.

A nice Sheriff will come along and tell you about it.

Mine never was... but it was on the edge of it so we decided to take a vacation.

If the property is in danger of actually catching on fire, the same nice people come and tell you all about it and help you leave.

That never happened.

THIS is why I'm going back up there tomorrow.

There are no stupid people there.
