In 2020, President Trump's administration compassionately enacted a moratorium on evictions, as Democrat governors shut down their states, creating mass unemployment.

Even though the country is in recovery mode, there are still an estimated 11 million individuals and families eligible for eviction, with many of them still not able to find suitable employment.

New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) correctly pointed out to CNN yesterday that this will be an American tragedy of epic proportions, caused 100% by Democrats.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., on Sunday blamed Democrats – both in the House of Representatives and at the White House – for allowing the eviction moratorium to expire, as millions of American families are at risk of being kicked out of their homes.

"The House and House leadership had the opportunity to vote to extend the moratorium, and there was frankly a handful of conservative Democrats in the House who threatened to get on planes rather than hold this vote," she said on CNN "State of the Union." "We have to really just call a spade a spade.

We cannot, in good faith, blame the Republican Party when House and Senate Democrats have the majority."

It may be Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez speaking the words, but the truth is obvious to anyone who knows how the Eviction moratorium was enacted by the Trump Administration, and how its expiration could have been delayed by the (now) Democrat majority in D.C..

I don't know WHY so many people think Democrats are still the "party of compassion". Maybe 50 years ago that was true?

They will extend it but not without taking Trumps good dead and turning it upside down first. They have a printing press. These renters have at least another month. Squeeze all the drama out of it. See, all better now.

I dont think this is a real "compassion" issue on either party outside of attempting to score political points/voters by EITHER PARTY.

be as the "good guy" or to show someone is the "bad guy/party"

Though it will be used as such and in the OP as stated by the last line of the post "I don't know WHY so many people think Democrats are still the "party of compassion". Maybe 50 years ago that was true?"

this program , along with a whole list of others from covid stimulus checks , welfare, unemployment benefits, ect were NEVER TO BE PERMANENT programs
they were to be TEMPORARY so people could "get on their feet"

some yes could be in VERY LIMITED AND RESTRICTIVE REQUIREMENTS

it is economically unfeasible and morally dishonest to claim ending this moratorium is "not compassionate" and/or wrong.

it was set up with CLEAR WARNING it was to be TEMPORARY and to HELP PEOPLE in the short run during the "pandemic" shutdowns (btw now proven caused more harm than good) .

the people were TOLD and damn well should have known that it would come to an end.

they should have planned for such.
now i do know a few (VERY FEW) may be in truly jacked up situation and there are programs already in place for such..
but i have zero doubt that many now complaining thought this would last forever and the money the got in stimulus was theirs to use as they wanted not needed... along with a healthy number thinking MORE is coming..

the cold hard truth is even IF the government wanted to continue it they ECONOMICALLY CANNOT..
the building owners , banks who have mortgages , and TAXPAYERS cannot foot this bill.
there is not enough cash you can "get from the rich" to sustain it either (so save that emotional rant).

im sorry but the program is over, the bill is due and if someone didnt plan ahead then its on them..
that thing called "personal responsibility"

be that failing to save, not having "plan B" and as important or even more

VOTING those politicians (mostly democrats and some republicans who supported democrats/agenda) in office that set you up for failure...
BE higher taxes, shutting down the economy, continuing the draconian ineffective covid mandates, or all of them...

Morally it should end but we don't really have a morale compass right now if you have not noticed. Housing illegal aliens but kicking citizens out...not gonna work out. Once one goes morally bankrupt they tend to not ever find the correct azimuth again.

i agree the US moral compass has gone really wacky and to point of morality bankruptcy

but we THE PEOPLE if we choose to as a GROUP can turn that tide.

despite the challenges and roadblocks to make it harder the powers that be and politicians put up it can be changed.

the challenge is not to accept or tolerate the narrative presented , not to keep (even if it at the time doesnt seem to work or been stolen) voting for those that are this way, and to whenever , wherever challenge the media, protestors, ect that support this..

it wont be easy, it wont be solved in "sitcom" time, it will have some defeats and yes some costs / pain

but the goal is to return the "moral compass" to true north if not for us for our children, grand children, ect...

Look at the fight, suffering, and cost our grandfathers went though during WWII....
imagine what would have happened if they had the attitude alot (not saying you) have today...

There is no winning situation in this imo.

These landlords are not all greedy corporations but many regular people as well. And they have a mortgage to pay. And they haven’t been able to collect rent in over a year. Surely some are also facing terrible situations and they deserve to be able to fetch a competitive price for their property and regain their livelihoods.

But there’s going to be a lot of people this week getting an eviction notice or facing the reality of being homeless thru no fault of their own. You print and feed money and manipulate the economy to the point we are now and there’s hard working small business owners, elderly on social security, single parents, and others that were able to make ends meet before the pandemic and are screwed from all the govt actions.

I can’t really pick political sides and say who did or didn’t do what when most people never wanted the government programs to be permanent to begin with. I don’t know when the timing is right, but that’s the date they picked.

And big money will come in and buy whatever is up for bid

Congress is allowing Homeowner evictions to move forward, however.

The Pandemic is still ongoing, and therefore the National State of Emergency is still in effect.

Keep the Unemployment money flowing, the evictions halted, the student loans forgiven, and free ObamaCare health insurance handed out like candy!

This is America...land of plenty!

Maybe the plan is to force people to go get a job and stop relying in the government.

A plan with big collateral damage but we know they don't give a crap.

So the bankers get the property.
The 2+ million illegals get to rent the properties, paid for by the govt.
No one really knows the exact number that will be forced to vacate their foreclosed homes.

Loss of homeownership was the second step to the new life style
Loss of ones business was the first step of the new life style
Gain of people and families living under the stars

What a beautiful world we live in now.

This event is happening world wide

What jobs? Have you seen NYC for instance? For instance, Most stores are boarded up. Its starting to look like a third world country. And since when did democrats want people to find jobs. Especially that since covid they have been discouraging people to go to their jobs. Also, historically Democrats have always wanted depended people. Not in-depended people.

I HOPE your being "cheeky" (as my British friends say) in your comment..

if you are well done

if your not and/or some liberal wackadoodle thinks this way let me point out a few things..

one...
the "pandemic" and "state of emergency" thereof is a FABRICATION at this point

yes covid is dangerous TO A SELECT FEW with known medical compromise..
to the rest... its turned into (or always has been) just ANOTHER flu like pathogen that nature is throwing our way.
to be dealt with, treated, but NOT FEARED or taking the actions we are now

two..
the only "pandemic" you need to be tested for to know you have
along with the only pandemic with
80 percent recovering without knowing they had it and minimal if any symptoms
99.8 or better survival rate

three.. by the CDC own website that only SIX PERCENT of reported covid deaths were CAUSED BY (or major factor) in the death.
that would make the 600,000 covid deaths actually 35,000 (give or take) .. that is HALF OR LESS than influenza flu deaths every year.

four..
the only "pandemic" that is politically selective
you dont see claims of mass infections from floyd memorials (be in church or protests), anifa/blm/democratic protests, mass gatherings to celebrate bidens win and the biggest one.
all the homeless camps where hygiene is bad, healthy food limited, medical conditions of all types, elderly, drug addicts and NO ONE FOLLOWS MASK (unless hiding from the cops) or distance mandates.

lastly

unless you missed it the USA IS BROKE AS HELL AND IN DEBT UP TO OUR EYEBALLS...
more than all the presidents including trump combined to the start of the biden presidency..

sorry but the "land of plenty" is tapped out and income potential is dying fast under covid restrictions

Listen, we just got done giving people an extra $600 in their unemployment. EVERY person on unemployment was making more than I was, and I was working 40 hours a week, AND I PAYED MY RENT.

People got an extra $300 in their unemployment after that. Then people on unemployment were making about the same as I was working 40 hours a week. AND I PAYED MY RENT.

Then everyone got an extra $2000. While I continued working during the entire Covid pandemic, AND I PAYED MY RENT.

If you didn't pay your rent, and you got all that money, I don't have any sympathy.

IT'S TIME TO PAY, OR GET OUT.

According to me, NYC is different. It's full of pretentious people with poor manners. It was like that before this bacon crisis.

This is BS.

The funds are already approved and just sitting there in each state collecting dust. Meanwhile, in about a month or two, there's going to be A LOT of folks and families that are going to be decimated.

Even if they FINALLY disburse the money in between that time, the evictions will already be filed and moving through the courts. You honestly think these landlords are going stop the process???

HELL TO THE NO.

Why would they? Most are looking to evict with malice, recoup the unpaid rent sooner or later and most likely liquidate their rental holdings.

So the situation is unwinnable and the results are going to be very, VERY messy regardless.

Winter is Coming....

Interesting how the alleged small government party wants more socialism.

(We The People) are going to have to talk to the owners of the properties and make a payment plan; apply to local counties and their state for help.

I am thinking if entire families, people, individuals are evicted and put on the street; all hell is going to break loose; people think the protests in 2020 were bad; they are nothing compared to what could happen; I fear for America.

Is it socialism or is it bootstraps? One is a hand out, the other a hand up. And generally when you go around destroying other people’s property...there is some restitution to pay.

All I know is the party that acted so desperately terrified over Jan6 is bringing nearly 11 million people down on them. Some will say that if this moron AOC can see it coming...others are not gonna say much of anything, those are the doers. And those are the ones that will “explain” a few things about getting some...

Man I wish I still smoked. That would be worth sitting down to have a cigarette and cup of coffee while watching.

As pointed out above you got all kinds of payouts for the past year and half, if you aren't paying your rent/mortgage, too friggin bad.
