Boy this backfired ...Trump is owed over a million dollars in back Taxes

OK many surely know the DOJ went after Trump's Tax returns and as we have seen before with certain corrupt government agencies they have the IRS go after someone. I bet they were having a toast and feeling pretty darn satisfied with themselves when they got this ball rolling in their favor. Well maybe there is a few good men and women left or maybe not but so far they are back pedaling and trying not to pay Trump. Stay tuned as no doubt there will be further developments.

Former President Donald Trump is owed a tax refund of $1 million for his Chicago skyscraper, but local officials are trying to stop it from being issued.

An Illinois tax agency ruled last month that Trump paid too much on his 2011 tax bill after the value of Trump International Hotel and Tower’s rooms and retail space was over-assessed by the Cook County Board of Review, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s has since filed a lawsuit to block the refund.

I promise you if we owed that kind of money they would be sending a swat team after us but if they owe "hey see you in court!"

You are correct as it is the state that owes him. However there will be more to this story after the DOJ, IRS, and Pelosi gets finished with his tax returns IMO. I hope it bites them in the butt..

We don't need to argue over every insignificant detail, especially when even a chance that we were incorrect somewhere.

While it is true that the DOJ has instructed the IRS to release Trump's tax returns to the House. And it is true that the SDNY also has obtained Trumps (and Co's) tax returns, I don't see what a property tax assesment in Chicago has to do with either of these things.

I wonder if he deducted the amount he paid from his income taxes. If so, it would seem that he will owe something on the refund.

Yes, would likely mean an adjustment in his case.

Folks at that level frequently experience adjustments like this, and mechanisms are in place to handle it.

Probably no payment due though, since I think IRS is still working off debt to Trump from previous over payments.

IRS doesn't send refund checks for such large amounts, they just apply it to future tax payments.
