M.D. and Pfizer board member says delta variant is probably "infecting a million people daily"

Former FDA commissioner, Pfizer board of directors member, and paid CNBC contributor Scott Gottlieb told CNBC today that a million people a day are probably getting infected. Wow! A Pfizer executive gets to go on a TV news show and spread fear about a virus that his company makes a vaccine for? Some people, including senator Elizabeth Warren have questions about Gottlieb's ethics. And that was before covid!

At the bottom of the CNBC page is a video with Dr. Robby Sikka, an anesthesiologist with the University of Minnesota Medical Center. After the show's host introduces him, Sikka takes just 15 seconds to state how imporatant it is to get the vax.

Also today, senator Rand Paul went on record saying that while the science shows the delta variant is more transmissable, it's not as deadly as the original covid 19 virus. He went on to say that science is all about continuous, non-stop, experimenting, questioning, and debate. NOT the facist "science" that the current administration is all about, where censorship is becoming more prevalent, and any one who questions "the state" is attacked. Thank you Rand Paul!

Yes! I have a liberal friend who watched some news clips last night and then said: "It's not even about the public health anymore. It's about power." Its certainly not unreasonable to suggest there are more cases than testing shows, for obvious reasons. A million is a pretty big jump though..

Notably, outside of the corporate marketing, The Virus being able to infect and transmit between vaccinated individuals has been known since before the Delta variant was even a glint in a pharma executives eye.

Importantly, and just an extension of what was stated in the OP: "peer review" is a continuous process rather than a "one and done" type thing.

Also, that leak from Albania about the Pfizer contract is a helluva thing, right? In general, it was nothing new either.. Ferinstance, we already knew that pharma companies pursued zero liability long ago, but the specifics are quite interesting.

In my view, Pfizer and the other vaccine manufacturers shouldn't be making the cable TV new rounds stoking concern over the virus. The optics of that look very bad, as they are reaping very big profits from this whole ordeal.

People are making money off of the virus, hand over fist, from the PPP angle up to and including BigPharma.

In my province 1600 people died. There's 5 million people here. Yet we had strict lockdowns and constant daily news about cases.

They spent more time on it though because hospitalization and death were both more common. Of course, most of the weakest and sickest didn't survive round 1. Those who did are in highest rate of vaccination in the country now. So delta, already weaker, has a tougher time creating victims for the press.
