a corporation is a corporation.

The dividends and profits made by that company primarily go overseas as opposed to one based here, this is much more than the wages.

I'm all for lower emissions, as long as that means we get more of the awesome hot hatches that the UK seems to get. We've gotten screwed out of a ton of really fun cars, all because everyone needs an extended cab pickup that you can't really do anything with. Makes no sense to me at all.

I think you make some valid points. I can only add that Chinese and Saudis and whoever are international corporations just as are all those originating in America corporations that have grown into international operations. I don't think the nationality or any physical attributes of the owners or shareholders means a whit when all these big corps are basically the same type behemoth

Biden Admin (quietly last week) further reduced the amount of emissions cars are allowed to release into the air.

Prices will go up, horsepower reduced, and more cars will come with the annoying "auto-shutoff" feature that kicks in at traffic lights and train crossings.

I hate that auto shut off on our Subaru. At least you can shut it off but if you turn off the car, it has to be shut off again when you start it. What you save in gas probably won't cover the replacement of the starter when it fails way before it should fail.

So the federal government will not be buying

Levi Jeans: no longer made in the US
Any athletic shoe other than ASICS
Most any GM, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge vehicle...Ford’s new Maverick which isn’t available just yet is Heche en Mexico.
Are there any US made textiles left?
Is there still significant US wool or cotton production left?
US looms?
Anything purchased at Walmart, Target, Dollar Tree, Dollar General or Family Dollar
Small mom and pop machine shops
Not much in way of glass production
I know of one little place that still makes pallets...

The US still has plenty of poor, drugs and crime...maybe fixing the above would fix that.

He is probably talking about electric cars and anything related to greeny energy, still the ones that will benefits are countries like China.

Have fun with the idea, because we all knows it will sucks for America at the end.

It isn't 'buying American', it's a foreign corporation. Would you have the same attitude if the automaker was CCP Autos or Lil Kim's Korean Kompacts?

My Ford was made of 70% global parts and assembled in Mexico. I sure don't call that "buying American".

This whole concept of the feds buying American has some major issues. How exactly does he plan on defining what is and isn't American?

Never say that I don't agree with you. All things like this are political payback. The Democrats claim that Capitalism doesn't work. They never mention the number of things that THEY put in the way to ensure that it doesn't.

Me neither, without seeing the details I'm not sure how this will function.

Good luck with that. You do know that this is for purchases by the Federal Government only?

Just checking. I'm not saying you, but reading comprehension is kind of weak around here.
Some of these posts sounded like people thought it was for everyplace.

The federal government uses many of the same suppliers that the general public uses.
Let's say the feds need 500 vans for whatever department.
What brand of vans are they going to buy that are American made?
Pretty much every supply will not be a totally American company.
