Is there a conspiracy to make people more accepting of looser morals?

I just don't understand why anyone would choose that for themselves.

If you really need to know why someone does something, ask them.

What do Olive Oyl, Betty Boop and Blondie have in common other than being old comic strip characters? They were all flappers.

They'd all be doing porn now.

Yeah, that is normally when the whole becoming adult thing starts. The best thing you can do, is not to forget that you have been a teen, too. You will lose connection very quickly if you forget the hardships of a teen. Anyway, the world will be yours for only a brief moment until it's time to let the next generation drive the dream bus.

It's just sad that we live in a world where some older generations wants to control the younger generation through some very elaborate Brainwash, so they can enact their very old and retarded system.

Not trying to make other people live by my morals. I just don't understand why anyone would choose that for themselves. But anyone can do whatever they want. I dont think it is intrusive to ask a question about whether or not certain situations are more detrimental to society as a whole. The whole cycle of single mom having a daughter who becomes a single mom. There have been studies that show children do much better when they have a male and female parent rather than just a female parent. Oh heck no. My kids are too young and won't be exposed to this stuff until they are able to make their own mind up about stuff.

"What's it got to do with you, mind your own business!"

This is how those who operate in the dark get away with crimes etc.. People turning a blind eye.

The time is coming when there will be no more secrets.

You can pick any generation in history and there will be complaints about morality and how society is doomed if we don't stop being 'immoral'.

Take that up with the ancient Romans. Either there were complaints that nobody listened to, or there were no complaints. Either way, Roman society failed because of it. But, let's just listen to you and not worry about that kind of thing these days. It couldn't happen to America. Could it?

Moralistic behavior is an ideal, not an invariable.

What is moral to you, may be immoral to your neighbor.

It's called perception, and perception varies from person to person.

Is it a gray area whether it is hurting someone when a teen girl thinks it is cool to have a baby and then all sorts of problems come up. Or single moms and deadbeat dads. I mean this stuff has some effect on the kids at least. I would never say someone couldn't or shouldn't do something they want to do, but I just question why you would want to do some of these things that seem so detrimental to me. People are free to make their own bad choices though. Or less than ideal ones.

You can't really use teen pregnancy as an example for how "morals" are becoming looser. Teen pregnancy has been on the decline for a long time. Teens don't want to have babies, probably because the "Teen Mom" type shows don't look cool at all. The parents lives look like a complete sh*t show, and even most teens can be entertained by that while simultaneously being like.... Oh my god... what if I get stuck with a Gary/Amber for the rest of my life!?

Most teen and single parents have one thing in common, and it's not lack of "morals", it's a lack of education.

Spot on.

There seems to be an ever increasing push to top the last obscene thing, whether it be music, video games (why aren’t there more detective type games? GTA is evil), the internet.

Rap; there is good and bad. If it tells a story that isn’t vulgar then it would be more popular.

I prefer talent of my days: Boys II Men for example: On Bender Knee.

The perfect song IMO, and explains the state of the world sadly.

God help us All!

With descriptions such as " looser morals" you clearly have placed yourself quite high up on that self righteous pedalstool......a trait the oppressed will forever condem you for.

What gives you the right to judge both others and your place in existence? Ever stopped to wonder why people behave why they do?

Your opening paragraphs first 3 words where certainly the only thing you said that was noteworthy.

Take that up with the ancient Romans.

They said the same thing and passed laws, the Lex Julia, to deal with the 'issue', these were eventually discarded.

Either way, Roman society failed because of it.

The Roman Empire didn't fail due to morality issues, it was primarily economic (debasement of the currency, over taxation, etc.), an influx of non-Romans and the use of mercenaries for military campaigns instead of citizens which the Romans lost more than they won.

What I want to know is, when were "we" ever moral? Was it moral to burn witches? Was it moral for the US Government of pay $$ for Indian scalps, give them blankets infected with small pox, own slaves and drive Mexicans out of the Wild West of California and Texas after "The Alamo"?

Was it moral to drop a couple of A-Bombs on Japan?

I guess sex, drugs and rock and roll are just natural outcomes of millennia of unchecked bad human behavior.

I don't think they have to do that as everyone's "morals" are different from everyone else. Some believe based on morals that can own a weapon and some believe its according to their morals that weapon ownership is bad. Some people drink some don't because of their morals so nope I don't see it.

There are attempts to influence morals. Prime example...the Dick Van Dyke show starred Mary Tyler Moore and was the first program to have a female character wear pants. Whether it was a specific objective I don't know but many females at the time would not wear pants but after she was shown wearing Capri pants during a dancing segment it was a more acceptable practice.

Another example more recent and admittedly to change public opinions and morals is Hollywood depicting characters having abortions. Hollywood feels abortion's should be a normal part of society and for the public to become more accepting and shed the moral stigmas some have.

So perhaps but because we all hold different morals a general conspiracy to change morals would likely fail. Like smoking, use to be common in films and television but today you rarely see a character smoking, but it didn't change morals as people still smoke. It will be something I look for now you point it out, vaping, are characters portrayed vaping instead of smoking or is it taboo as well since there seemed to a shift and smoking bad but vaping cool.

Some thing to think about but influence is more natural than conspiracy as one can influence without intention but it would seem to be a tool that can be used as well. Thought provoking thread
