We need a grass roots movement to facilitate voting, fairly, legally.

I admit, I'm a white guy. I have always known in advance that a vote was upcoming. I know where my voting station is. I know how long the voting process is, so I am aware of when it closes. I'm sure that's due to my privilege, but whatever.

As I hear of all the disenfranchised people who aren't able to vote due to the removal of Covid type voting rules, I am saddened. Voting is a right, not just a privilege. So we need to let people (who are unable to navigate the complexities of the voting system) how to get to the polls, how to get their vote heard, and how to do it LEGALLY. I think if a movement such as this was started, it could access lots of government money, and be the crown jewel of democracy. From what I hear, the voting issues are massive. We have entire state governments shutting down over this. Rather than risk more theater removal of liberties, we need to step up and help those who cannot help themselves. If anyone is interested in a project like this, please expound on ideas to make it successful. We could start with busses to the ID centers, on the ride, we could explain the voting process, where to vote in each area, and what each person will need to accomplish their vote.

I cannot imagine any pushback on such a project, as it goes directly to the root of the problem and FIXES IT, rather than perpetuate it for future pointless arguments. Unless fixing it isn't the goal here at all. I suppose the response will tell THAT tale soon enough.

Please respect the dead, don't make them vote, they have enough on their plate.

BTW, depending on who is in charge of the redistricting, the same people don't seem to be against this at different times. Is it controlled by the moon phases or something?

And so my snark doesn't get in the way of the goal, I want everyone who wants to vote, to be able to vote, unencumbered.
I also want ALL excuses removed so we can focus on policies and things that matter when it comes to voting. I may be biased, but I can't understand why anyone would oppose that, unless they were trying to control the vote.

that sounds dishonest. And it's illegal too. maybe along with our grass roots movement, we can lobby for some new penalties for voter fraud, and make them really, really bad, so nobody would want to be caught trying to upend our democracy process. Or would that be racist?

1. A big problem is you need to vote in your district and so you need an address that can be verified and some way to suggest it is YOU that voted. Is that too much to ask? Many local elections are won or loss by even less than 100 votes.

2. States are all over the place with their voting processes that tend to be crappy. We saw that in FL with Gore/Bush and FL cleaned up their act. As we enter mass mailings this needs to be cleaned up as we saw a bunch of things, but what do you do when the Fox watches the hen house. We saw a picture of a foot high stack of ballots not folded, so not mailed... tons of votes from people out of state, wrong address etc...all bad wouldn't you say.

3. Why do we even need drop-off doxes anymore when every official mail box is one too, and in my blue state of WA there was less than 10 voting places in the state. One of my worker is old school and he had to drive over 2 hours to use one.

4. The uproar over GA is a scam as many blue states are already more restrictive then what they are suggesting, plus everything that was used as example by the left as bad was completely wrong and miss leading, not even close to what was actually in the bill.

Mass mailings is like a new frontier in voting, if that is the direction we go then what else is even needed, but boy we need to make sure the check and balances are correct.

My accumulative voting experiences have largely left me reluctant to participate. It's always been exhaustive, tedious, and unrewarding. You know that moment where you get home and think "boy am I relieved I was able to perform my civic duty and make a lasting meaningful difference in my community"? Still waiting for that satisfaction. 🤷

Maybe if American voters got paid the way jurors do? But that's stupid, why would any responsible governing body introduce actual incentive to improve voters morale and maybe give them some small token of appreciation for their service. Voting is an obligation, not a favor. 🙄

I have two words for you: curbside pickup. It's not a recent invention, just more commonplace because state regulations made it "essential".

Campaigns are all about trying to control the vote and who the candidate will be.

Essentially giving the voter only 2 choices....You call that freedom?
