Earth: What's The Name Mean?

I zoned out watching The Big Bang Theory and started wondering how Earth got named and by who and what the word "earth" means.

The History Channel website helped some.

But I want to know what earth really means.

I came up with this:

Evolve and return to heaven. E-a-r-t-h.

thats cool. I always thought it was an anagram for "Heart"

It's interesting it's the only planet in our solar system that doesn't come from Greek or Roman mythology.

That is this planets nick name. The proper name is Terra. Just as the Moon has a proper name, Luna.

What is the real name of Earth?

Does everyone call it 'Earth'?

I mean, if you were to translate it in all other languages, would each of them translate into 'Earth'?
