Not a fan of his but I wish him well with his hiccups.

His office said in a statement on Wednesday afternoon that Bolsonaro, who has required several surgeries since being stabbed in the abdomen at a political rally in 2018, was suffering from an intestinal blockage.

Earlier in the day, the office said he had been taken to a military hospital in the capital Brasilia “to undergo tests and to investigate the cause of the hiccups”.

Perhaps nobody's suggested he lean forward and drink from the opposite side of his cup .

It came as the president is facing mass protests and a Senate commission investigation into his government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more than 535,800 people to date, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Or it could just be a bit of political theatre with a touch of Python about it.

Hiccups are no joke!

Today I found out Charles Osborne (1894-1991) had the hiccups non-stop for approximately 68 years, from 1922 to June 5th, 1990.  According to the Guinness Book of World Records, this is the longest bout of the hiccups ever recorded.

My grandmother from Liverpool would make me do that when I was a kid - it works!

I realized years ago that, for me anyways, it's all about the swallowing, not the drinking. I will drink water, but taking the absolute smallest sip possible that allows me to swallow, and just continue doing that as much as I can. Usually one long drink, of many many swallows, is enough to do the trick.

The hiccups seem to be from an intestinal blockage.

The intestinal blockage is related to surgery he had almost 3 years ago due to an abdominal stab wound suffered from a leftist militant during his election campaign.

That's what the left does here if they feel threatened they will lose an election - they kill. Happened before, more than once, and I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again.

Regarding mass protests against Bolsonaro, there are many , many more supporters than protesters. The leftist media only shows the protests, probably because Rede Globo, the largest Brazilian television network, owes millions and millions in unpaid back taxes that Bolsonaro said they must pay by 2022 or lose their broadcasting concession.

And that's all I've got to say about that.

He was stabbed in the gut a few years back and I bet that this is related.

They should be able to diagnose the cause of the chronic hiccups at the hospital. Possibly problems with the gut, kidneys, or liver. I don't know of any poisons that would cause that, but some food chemistries can cause hiccups in some people. I know someone who had hiccups years ago that would not go away and they went into the hospital for some testing and they got it figured out. Off hand I cannot remember what they found was the cause, that was over forty years ago. I think it was triggered by something his wife started to make, some spice or something, but we never actually discussed what it was, only that the hospital had identified what was causing it....so I don't know what they found.
