There's another guy that does a rock solid video showing how the data graphs don't match up for the warming. Wish I could remember it. Using their own data and showing there's zero correlation to temperature and everything they claim is causing it.

Some YouTube gut vs literally every single scientist who study global warming/climate change...

Do you honestly think some random quack is going to find something that at thousands and thousands of scientists and grad students missed? If the guy actually found something, there would be a grad student who would write a thesis on it.

That said, the connection between CO2 in the atmosphere and temperature is a well established one. Maybe look up radiative forcing of CO2 instead of blindly believing some random YouTube video...

The video in my OP is from a well established science channel with many verified science based clips....so not just some random quack make questionable claims.

Here is another good one that is relevant to climate change denial and several other popular fringe beliefs on ATS.

That is ridiculous. Take classes like Atmospheric Chemistry, Synoptic Meteorology, and Fluid Dynamics(just some I can think of) that all require prereqs of Chemistry II, Physics II, Calculus II and get back to me.

I have yet to meet anyone who has the education background I have that denies human induced climate change and global warming.

The vast majority who deny climate change do so because of the bandwagon effect....as it is one of the far right's dogmatic beliefs.

You just don't get it do you?

Where did I mention more taxes? Where did the video in did it mention taxes?

We are causing CO2 levels to spike as a direct result of our fossil fuel addiction, this is causing a warming effect, glaciers are melting like we have never seen before, the ocean is becoming more wcidic as a result of the extra CO2 it dissolves(it becomes carbonic acid), the sea level is rising also storms like hurricanes appear to be more frequent and stronger and extreme weather appears to becoming more common.

These are issues we will have to adapt to. The one thing we have control over is CO2. We are moving that way but are facing a huge disinformation campaign grom the fossil fuel interests who know that cutting CO2 emissions will hurt their profits and could even bankrupt big oil.

Oil is becoming outdated, just like we no longer use coal on trains, we will no longer use fossil fuels as we do now. The sooner the better.

That said fossil fuels will not become obsolete anytime soon, perhaps ever, what will happen is we will consume(and burn) much less. Perhaps in 100 years we will only use 1/100th, 1% of what we use now.

This is what scares fossil fuel interests. This is why there are campaigns to cast doubt on climate science and the link burning fossil fuels to global warming and climate change.

Funny how you mention taxes though. If we ended our subsidies to big oil, a major tax that we all currently pay, I am confident that the free market would sort things out and through free enterprise and ingenuity we would drastically cut our fossil fuel consumption.

One- its getting warmer and a number of gases cause warming.

Man can not stop global warming. No way, No how

The US can do nothing to stop global warming, and what we do in the US will just cause china to increase their output as fast as we decrease ours.

Two, the only way the US can go carbon zero is with nuclear power plants.
The people stopping nuclear power are the same ones pushing wind and solar and putting money in their pockets.

Wind and solar are feel good but in the long run do nothing programs that CAN NOT stop CO2 output.

Solar panels can not be made fast enough to work when the life of solar panels is around 25 years and then must be replaced.

Big oil and gas kept a dirty secret for decades. Now they may pay the price.

...nearly two dozen lawsuits are underpinned by accusations that the industry severely aggravated the environmental crisis with a decades-long campaign of lies and deceit to suppress warnings from their own scientists about the impact of fossil fuels on the climate and dupe the American public.

It's no accident that there are so many, predominantly American, anthropogenic climate change deniers. They've been the prime target, for 50 years or more, of media (and, more recently, internet) propaganda, paid for by the industry.

Just as the tobacco industry spent millions to cover up the connection they knew existed between smoking and lung cancer, the fossil fuel conglomerates did the research, saw the consequences, and spent billions on campaigns of disinformation and hired mouthpieces.

The main difference is the greater scale of the operation, and the much greater scale of the catastrophe for humans and other living things.

It's sad to realise they were just too powerful in every sphere of media and politics to be held to account until now. The tide has turned. As unprecedented heatwaves and fires blaze over hundreds of thousands of acres in America, perhaps the public mood there has too.

Exactly!

Maybe if our “Saviours” from things like viruses and atmospheric changes didn’t turn out to be wealthy opportunistic hypocrites some of us would be more open to these discussions.

As it stands they can go pound sand.

Building them silly seawalls will not help. Those that have moved are the survivors. No use staying. Like you can't live long in the desert without water. When your location changes , it changes too fast to escape. Have you seen all the flooding in the last 2 weeks here in Japan.

I was not aware that there are people out there that are building seawals to protect themselves from the sea. Its not going to work in the long run, or the short run either.

And no. Sorry. Not that much on news these days. But I have notices that the anime coming out of japan has slowed somewhat. Which can only mean? Something is wrong. I mean? They are an island, so. If your living there. You would know better then me.

What are you silly? I am tottaly not a doom porn guy. Im all about rainbows and sunshine, and unicorns, even though they went extinct.

Anyways.

CO2 is just one part of a climate. Mars has 95% CO2. Earth has 0.04%. At one point Mars could have been like earth, so that means in the minum range of 1% Co2. Also at one point some millions of years ago, CO2 was around that or higher. It lead to giant plants and giant animals. Plants love CO2, they seem to grow faster and bigger with more CO2.

Do you know how much a 69 ton animal eats per day in greens. A lot, it had to eat at least a fraction of its body weight or starve and it couldn't retain its body mass. One of them probably farted more CO2 then a town full of people, cows, automobiles and all.

So ya. CO2 is just one aspect of climate, and right now I would say its dwarfed by a # ton of other things. If your focusing on one aspect of a climate. Your missing the bigger picture.

Why is that? Is it because you are not capable of seeing past one aspect of climate?

So ya I watched the video. I even seen plenty of that guys channel video also. I merely think that of all the thing out there that can cause climate change. CO2? Would likely be down the list. And the list, if I were to make a list? Would be in the thousands of other factors.

So ya. Wana see what it is like to be living in a microwave? Look at Mars. And its likely they at one point were like earth. And when the magnetic field waned? And mars does look like it has a molten iron core like earth. Yet? It has little to no protective magnetic sphere. And so? Do you know were they think all the co2 on mars came from?

From organics turned into Carbon monoxide and CO2. Basically? They got microwaved. And all the co2 on mars, could have been a byproduct of that.

I just wonder where we are in the universe now versus where we were 1000 years ago. Are we possibly getting closer to other solar systems?

The 14th misconception about global warming is that taxing people money for it will stop global warming or make its effects go away.

Should actually be number one though.

Fires in Calif caused by global warming is bull s**t.

researcher have found between 12 and 44 million acres burned in Calif before Europeans ever came to Calif depending on drought that happened before Europeans.

Below is a graph from the book 'Climate Change The Facts' 2017 showing the impact of solar radiation on the climate.

Quote:

According to the IPCC, in AR5, the solar forcing since pre-industrial times has been small, amounting to only 0.05 W/m2. However, there are various reconstructions that show a large increase in TSI since pre-industrial times. Quote from Egorova et al 2018: “There is no consensus on the amplitude of the historical solar forcing. The estimated magnitude of the total solar irradiance difference between the Maunder Minimum and present time ranges from 0.1 W/m2 to 6 W/m2 making uncertain the simulation of the past and future climate”. Quote from Scafetta et al 2018: “The solar radiative forcing is quite uncertain because from 1700 to 2000 the proposed historical TSI reconstructions vary greatly from a minimum of 0.5 W/m2 to a maximum of about 6 W/m2”. One of the reconstructions below (from the book, Climate Change The Facts) shows an increase in TSI of about 4 W/m2 since 1800 which works out at a forcing of 0.7 W/m2 (since TSI is traditionally converted into solar forcing by dividing by 4 in order to take into account the spherical geometry of Earth and multiplying by an albedo of about 0.7). That is 14 times greater than what the IPCC attribute to solar forcing since pre-industrial times.

Why would their far out of bound solar forcing be correct and the consensus solar forcing be incorrect?

spot.colorado.edu...
Increased solar forcing would furthermore cause different warming patterns than what is observed from increased greenhouse concentrations, and even furthermore, the increase in greenhouse gases is an observed fact, not a conjecture, and so the greenhouse radiative forcing would have to be included on top of that.

More solar forcing of course makes daytime hotter and equatorial regions hotter. That isn't what's observed, by contrast polar (at least arctic) is warming sharply, and night is warming more than daytime, just what you predict from

The increase in water vapor is consistent with a warming atmosphere, since vapor/ocean mixing time is a few weeks and there is a large sink of liquid water, the vapor is a response.
