So what was he talking about or working on previously?

So far there are two suspects. Either it was a contract for the Moroccan maffia, because he is the adviser for a crown-witness, or it was done for one of Amsterdam’s most notorious gangsters who made his fame with the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken and his chauffeur, and later for being the key figure in the extortion and murder of Willem Endstra, a high profile, and also shady, business man. Peter R de Vries played a major role in getting his sisters in contact with the police, who gave the incriminating information statements that contributed/lead to the conviction of their brother, who threatened his sisters with death if they ever spoke out.

HERE is a link to what Peter R de Vries is about and the current cases he is investigating. Strange as it sounds he is respected (and feared) by most in the criminal world and respected of course by the dutch justice department. Unfortunately the info on website is written in dutch...but probably can be translated with google.

He is respected because without him some cold murder cases would not have been solved and feared because if he has you in his sight and you have something to hide, he will expose you. Thats probably the reason why somebody ordered him dead.

His most serious actual case is about Ridouan T...a heavy criminal who hired hitman afor murders in the drugsworld. Peter has close ties to the crown witness in this case and act as a spokes person for this witness.

Peter was shot in the head in a crowded shopping street in amsterdam.. a very cowardly act by presumably three young idiots. The police acted swiftly and succeded to arrest these a-holes. Peter is fighting for his life in the intensive care at the moment.

Such brutal drugs related murders do not happen often in The Netherlands but there is an increase. This is an indication that Holland will not be spared in the global drugs trade.

Hard to say , Peter R De Vries has been working on and cracking open cases for more than 2 decades. He achieved amazing things. He for sure was very effective and very famous in the Netherlands and surrounding countries. One this is for sure. Once he would work a case he would not let it go until it was resolved. He once got 2 people freed after having been incarcerated for 20 years for a murder that they did not commit and the police knew this.

P.S Peter R De Vries was a high profile police investigator. Not a crime reporter. He also became that during his career but he was investigative police first and foremost.

Yes but that was a different case. Van Gogh (actually related to the painter) was murdered by a extremist Muslim. Chased down the street with a Uzi, then had his throat cut when he was down and then had 2 knifes jabbed into his chest because he expressed criticism of Islam.

The sister was the sister of Willem Holleeder a big name criminal With whom Willem Endstra , a business man did shady business. Endstra did not survive. But in the end it turned out that holleeder did not commit all the murders, That was done mostly by Dino.S. It is a very intriguing case still.

The Heineken case for sure is not connected to this.

Yeah. I love how when somebody shoots something up in Europe, they use fully automatic weapons, but we're the gun nuts.

Hes no snitch , hes a cold blooded reporter whos perseverance lead to cold cases being solved and gave some sort of closure to the harmed families.

When everyone gave up Peter would not , and bite into these cases like a pitbull.

He is a Hero , Who went after child murderers , no matter what you say nothing will change that.

Peter is not a snitch but a crime reporter.
I guess anybody who ordered for his head is a very scared criminal. And not a very bright one.
If Peter doesn't come after your a** , you'd better be a nice criminal to Peter. Because you know your criminal a** is next when he's on your case.
But he...who's to say why the criminals may have a little respect for reporters.
....nobody in our third world country has any anymore these days. Something's broke.

Amsterdam takes no prisoners if you piss off the wrong sort of people.

I lived there for 6 months back in the late 90s when it was still guilders.

And people went missing and were reported missing all the time.

The people and Police there are sound as a pound but the criminal undertone is apparent in spades.

The Red-light distract is more than just about hookers, you can buy all sorts just around the corner and up the wee allies, guns, serious drugs, even people to do all manner of nasty things for a price.

Our Famed Dutch Crime Reporter has died because of his wounds earlier today. '

The entire country is somehow affected by what happened to this guy and is now grieving because of his passing.

He was a good dude who went on investigating a case for the victims and their families even when in some cases the justice department gave up and changed the status to a cold case.

To give an impression...in one case there was only a few months left before the crime passed its statute of limitations. Before that date passed he managed to give the police information which lead to the arrest and conviction of the criminal.

Peter was threatened more than once in his life by criminals and got himself a tattoo which says... "On bended knee is no way to be free"

Great guy and will be missed by his family, friends and the people of The Netherlands.

RIP Peter.

Its best, not always but...before any judgement is made to look for the good in people. Sure Peter deserved such treatment and would proof this intent justified and worth the effort.

R.I.P. Peter.
