Why yes! Yes we can!

With some delicious smoked Gouda cheese too, and some biscuits even.

Yes, a delightful breakfast indeed!

Too bad it's still a little too early for a pint!

Surely not Gouda? Not if you're aiming at "British". What about some nice Wensleydale?

Well, if I drink all the beer now, there won't be any for later!

Well, I had some Stilton, but that doesn't go with Kippers very well, more a dessert cheese. So smoked Gouda it was. Besides, I wasn't really aiming for anything really...other than gettin' sumthin' in me BELL-Y

Your thread reminded me of two great comedy shows, both featuring John Cleese.

Fawlty Towers...'The Kipper and the Corpse'

Monty Python...' Cheese Shop '
This sketch features one of the greatest dialogues ever.
"I thought you we're complaining about the music"
"Ugh...heaven forbid. I'm one who delights in all manifestations of the terpsichorean muse"

I used to eat them on toast for breakfast. I loved them.
Doctor says not to eat them any more.

I'd get a 2nd opine!
This small oily fish makes a low calorie, high protein breakfast. Not to mention that they’re high in Omega-3 fatty acids! Eating oily fish once or twice a week can reduce levels of fatty substances in your blood, reducing your risk of a heart attack. Kippers are a particularly good choice, as herring is one of the types of fish higher in Omega 3 fats and has lower mercury levels. If you can conquer an aversion to bones you’ll get a good dose of Calcium and Vitamin D, which you need to support your muscles and for healthy bones. On top of that, kippers are also high in phosphorus, potassium, iron, zinc and vitamins B-12, A and E.

Show this to your doctor.

Interesting. I thought they were supposed to be healthy, what with the Omega 3 and all.

As an American of Norse decent, I consider a tin of kippers to be fine and proper at any moment of the day. Prove me wrong.

They are good but I want to try the non tinned smoked kind, not preserved in oil.

I am now eating my daily lunch, which is "wild Planet" Wild Sardines in Extra virgin Olive Oil. I have two pieces of white string cheese, and 1/2 of a carton of crackers. Pretty much my lunch every day. I dip the crackers in the oil. Try it some time.

Are you people real??? You're Americans. Has some one told you Kippers are good to eat? They're rubbish, full of small bones and taste awful. Try smoked Haddock instead, poached in milk.
More cheese Gromit.

I find tins of seafood to be delights. I carry them in my briefcase, and snack on them all the time. Always try and keep some crackers near. Bring along a bit of cheese. Always a holiday with some fish, crackers and cheese.

What I enjoy a lot is the spicy oil. Like when they do the spicy pepper with the oysters.
