Well, Nigerians have every right to ban a platform. However, do Nigerians want twitter banned or was the president imposing his own will and not the peoples?

Imagine if twitter and facebook was banned for all Americans because republicans did not like the percieved bias against them.

Would you be okay with that?

A platform of toxic us versus them platitudes? Nigerians are better off without it, as is everyone else.

And you know Nigerians enough to know what is best for them? What they would choose if it could be put to a popular vote?

If anything I think this event should highlight the dangers of what is happening in Nigeria. Or what is going to happen. Not as some victory for Republicans who dislike twitter.

I doubt Nigerians care one bit about American politics. So why should a twitter ban be considered good for Nigerians based off American politics and concerns?

Nigerians should just build another site like Twitter.

Problem?

Solved.

I know human beings well enough that toxic infighting is a poor environment. Nationality doesn’t matter. But as for Nigeria in particular, their leader was banned for an out of context comment. His response was to deplatform all of Twitter from Nigeria. Seems an appropriate measure of “who exactly do you think you are in censoring speech, because I can show you exactly who I am” of a response.

Me personally, I’d let them reinstate me and tell them that they can continue to pound sand. And then have Twitter and other social media discussed at the UN on censorship of free speech in favor of preferred ideology as an abuse of human rights through propaganda.

A perfect example.

Nigerians can just create their own social media platforms.

Easy-Peasy, Lemon-Squeezy.

Sorry to hear about your health. I've lost family to cancer. I hope you are spending your time doing what makes you smile.

And laugh. Laughter is powerful.

And I'm with you on not wanting to harm others, but it happens, because at times it's necessary.

Yeah well I would like to be under British rule, just for the fun of it.

Actually, I'd love to move over there, I've seen the countryside. And I like fog.

Well your plenty welcome EdisonintheFM, im sure they could squeeze you in somewhere, Scotland is still half empty, and the scenery is somewhat picture perfect.

People tend to love Americans over here for the most part.

Tell you one thing through mate, politics is just as broken, as it is in your own nation.

Same crap, slightly different wrapping paper, kid-on first world nation for the majority of us.

I don't know about fog most days but there is Tory austerity going around in spades that somewhat creates a unique form of ambience.

LOL!

The thing is I have no ties here. And I get that politics is messy all over, but America is becoming unbearable. I know America has areas left that are untainted by politics and racism and social justice, but I love watching traveling shows, PBS has a few that make me want to swim for Europe. And the people there seem so freaking nice and polite and welcoming.

I dunno, if I do leave the US, it'll be Europe or Canada....I love poutine as much as I love fog.

Suppose the grass is always greener.

Put it this way, we could both hail from a hell of a lot worse places on the planet, quite literally in most instance.

Ive always found, to the greater extent, and as a general rule of thumb, people treat you how they find you most places i ever been, which is not i suppose as far and wide as i should have travelled.

I've travelled all over Europe, not much further afield I'm afraid, and met people from all walks of life and backgrounds and you're right; the vast majority of people treat others with respect and courtesy.
We all have the same cares and concerns; look after our families and ourselves and maybe have a little bit of fun along the way whilst not harming those that don't harm us.

It's really not hard.
