It could be that my eye hasn't noticed a change, or my mind doesn't see it.....who knows.
But work on the site is a good thing

"But work on the site is a good thing"

Agreed completely!

Am pretty proud of the patience being displayed by users here during updates, I've never experienced like that in my real life.

Can you send a link to the forum you are having problems with?

Turns out it is my default Microsoft Edge Browser that's unable to post.

I started using Firefox and the posting problems stopped.

In fact, there's no delay in the posting process at all with Firefox. (Today was the First time logging in to ATS with Firefox) Even with MS Edge, there's this 3 to 5 second delay from pressing the "reply" button to the post being applied to the forum.

try looking at the http vs https issue. Modern browsers remember. I'll wager M$ edge was using "remembered history" or old bookmarks. If you went to FF and the delay stopped. Perhaps FF was automatically using https.

I couldn't post but now I can.

I don't understand any of the stuff everyone else was talking about.
Secured?

Am I stupid....or just old and uneducated?

No not stupid or uneducated. "secured and http" is computer jargon.

What has happened is a very good improvement was made to the ATS website.

Our web browsers just need to learn something has changed.

If you can post now that is all that matters.

Eventually when the kinks worked out and all the content is TLS-capable, the admins are going to want to add rules in your web server config such that requests for "http://abovetopsecret.com/some/page" are automatically changed to "https://abovetopsecret.com/some/page". Should be easy to have a 301 redirect such that folks http requests are seamlessly sent to the https resource without user intervention. Very easy to do with pattern-based URL rewriting in most modern servers like nginx. This way users won't need to manually type in the "https"; their requests will automatically be served securely even if they still have old http bookmarks.

Really great stuff, and encouraging developments (presumably from new ownership)

My apologies, I am in the process of moving ATS to a secure site you may experience problems temporarily. I just tested the reply and edit functions and they worked for me. Anyone else having issues?

Only issue I've noticed is that on android, no inline pictures appear.
PC browser works fine.

Same for me!

Happy to see someone working to improve the site.

Thanks ATS Admin, you mysterious hero.

@ ATS Admin

I just noticed a new glitch with uploaded images.

Android 9, Chrome 91

I uploaded two images 320px x 693px. When I select the image to get the link it opens and remains in a fixed, unscrollable position, which doesn't allow me to see the code underneath it.

Shorter images are still ok as the code boxes are just about visible.

I tried with Desktop View in Chrome and get the same result. I tried in Edge and same result. Vertical or horizontal viewing makes no difference either. I believe there are formatting issues on that page because even the new funky blue icons have some strange placements.

Good work with the updates, it's understandable that to make an omelette you have to break some eggs.

I logged out and logged back in, made sure https:// was in front of the URL

And made a Bloody Mary.

Not sure if the booze made a difference but I don't really care.

Out of curiosity have you cleared cookies and history in your browser? If not see if that helps.

There were definitely problems with the image upload functionality. Nothing a little sleepless night can't fix. Try it now.
