The article couldnt pinpoint the source of the bodies, but this was in a remote part of the country so who knows.....Covid is just hitting the countryside so it could be that, or not.

But I just thought it was a crazy story.

I totally get that...I have watched lots of documentaries about them launching them down the river, but they are aflame on a wooden raft.

These poor sods got nothin but the current.

Sure, but said bodies are usually alit on a pyre, not al fresco.

Im more thinking about all those poor trees getting chopped up. 4k peeps a day dying....thats a lot of timber.

What you see on TV are on a pyre. Not all bodies are ceremoniously done away with.

Ok, perspective time.

This is India

Absorb the stats. Check out how many people die in India every single day regardless of covid. Check out how many are born. There is no catastrophe, unless you call the general state of affairs in India a catastrophe.

As for all the bodies getting burned in funeral pyres due to over-run crematoriums, well I've seen one car park out of the whole of India. Doesn't exactly fill me with dread. You'd think the media could at least film a couple of them. Nope, just one shown over and over.

The same can be said for the hospitals. One. Shown over and over. Filled with about 50 people out of a population of about 1 billion 300. And most of the patients don't even seem to be in much distress.

And don't even get me started about the relentless media push in Australia about "Indian-Australians" who are actually just permanent residents being abandoned by the government of Australia. They're Indians. They have Indian passports. They just live here about half the year!!

Don't know what the angle is with all this but I'm calling BS regardless.

And ebola spread because they didn´t bury their corpses deep enough and animals dug them out. This is not good.

They must all be immune to it. Talk about Beaver Fever, more like the Punjab Pandemic.

This is the core of the issue, it's supposed to be ash going into the river, not slightly charred corpses. But it takes quite a lot of timber to turn a body to ash, that's expensive, and for most, impossible to acquire.
And so, into the river the barely burnt bodies go.
Tradition before basic common sense I'm afraid is the order of day, it's an unimaginably horrorfying spectacle to behold.

Thing there lakenheath24 is that there are probably more villages than there are Police.

The law over there is enforced by a multitude of agencies other than just the cops by the way.

Not suggesting the don't have the best of intensions, but its a numbers game, and the amount of people in India is rather disproportionate compared to other places.

Crazy to us i suppose, but Indians have been depositing ashes of cremated bodies in that river long before our respective nations ever existed.

Bit mental from our perspective, here in this day of age, but each to there own i suppose.

In refection, and considering the stuff we deposit in our own rivers, we don't really have a leg to stand on. LoL

Hindus also think they are blessed with immunity to getting sick from bathing in it and drinking from it.

India does seem to embrace the concept of nationalization.

I would suggest that India is a deeply socialist country, that has been known to practice some of the worst forms of Crony-Capitalism yet seen in the developing nations.

"She's got issues"

Then again haven't we all?

Christian doctrine promotes the consumption of the blood and body of Christ aka cannibalism of a sorts via proxy so there is that.

Sick Christian people travel to the likes of Lourdes to drink water which flows from a spring in the Grotto of Massabielle in the hope and belief that it will some how miraculously cure all that ails them.

People do and belief some rather crazy notions.

To my knowledge, none of them seem to have suggested drinking bleach might be just the ticket all the same.

This world is nuts and then some. LoL

Come on now, that was a 10 to 1 dilution of bleach. And lets not forget muricans kissing the Blarney Stone despite locals peeing on said stone. I love that one, although that is surreptitious behavior to be fair.

So far beer is keeping me safe.
