Yeah, we all kinda forgot about that. Let's not end up like Martians who lost their immune system and died out.

While it's true a few people get allergic reaction and die, the virus is beneficial to mankind as a whole. I for one will not take vaccine. Never took a flu shot in my life. Never gets the flu. If government forces to to take vaccine then I will move back to China.

“By the toll of a billion deaths man has bought his birthright of the earth, and it is his against all comers; it would still be his were the Martians ten times as mighty as they are. For neither do men live nor die in vain.”

― H.G. Wells, The War of the Worlds

What does not kill you makes you stronger

My Dad's favorite saying .
The second was "If you can walk away from it , it wasn't that bad ."

Rubbish.

Convenient saying employed by people who need to explain away poor choices.

Tell me the person who stepped out in front of the bus and became a quadriplegic as a result thinks that or the junkie who looks ravaged from his/her habit thinks that, etc, etc.

What doesn't kill you simply doesn't kill you.

So , you say that a person could not become stronger under those conditions .
That is an ignorant thing to say.
You think only in physical strength terms , don't you ?

I had COVID over a month ago.

And , yet , you are still posting here on ATS.

I have been short of breath (leaving me like a person suffering from emphysema), I have lower digestive tract issues and the covid 'brain fog'. My doctor says that the breathing issues could last for months, if they ever get better at all.
I did spend 5 days in the hospital, being admitted a week after covid was diagnosed. I credit convalescent plasma therapy for getting me out of the hospital. Up to the point where it was administered, I had to have oxygen at 10 liters per minute.

Vaccines do the same thing that getting and beating an infection does.

Who told you martians lost their immune system and died out? Pretty sure you were not there to claim first hand knowledge.

You might consider it if you couldn't walk up a short flight of stairs without stopping, with your lungs heaving.

Many of those people become suicidal.
And don't forget PTSD.
Ask those people if they are stronger after experiencing non fatal trauma.

But the OP made it broad enough to cover all aspects.......obviously your right that SOME may become stronger in SOME aspects from a non fatal encounter but equally SOME may find nothing is further from the truth and if you continue to undermine BG's point of view considering the struggles and life threatening situations encountered then you better revisit your arrogance accusations and perhaps look inwards.

You and I may not agree much, but I had a very similar response on this.

Whether physical or emotional anguish, everyone has a breaking point.

I have to use one of those breathing "toys"
I only call them that , because that's what they look like .

That is easy to have happen .
Yes , there was a time , once upon a time.
But so far I have exceeded my expiration date by 2 years.
