One huge issue the MSM won't touch is black-on-black gun violence. The CDC collects data on non-fatal gunshot victims treated at emergerceny rooms. During the 10-year period from 2007-2016, about 603,000 non-fatal gunshot victims were treated. Of these, the race or ethnicity of 441,000 was recorded.

Out of the 441,000 victims whose race is known, 261,000 were black. That's just over 59 percent of all victims whose race is known, and averages out to 26,000 per year.

About 94,000 Hispanics were treated during the same period, or more than 21 percent of victims whose race is known.

Non-Hispanic whites accounted for 77,000 of the victims whose race is known, or more than 17 percent.

Funny that so many of these mass shootings were in California, NY and Chicago, the cities with the most strict gun laws. Hmmmm.

Chicago was ordered to get rid of those strict gun laws by the Supreme Court a couple years back.

There is a non-Police related shooting on the news every single day in Chicago and surrounding. What's even worse are the kids getting caught in the crossfire.

Chicago is a war zone.

Nothing *can* be done that is the point.

Given the panic buying (and highly dedicated owners), do you really think anyone would comply anyhow?

Fact is, the pro-gun crowd is winning. The default condition is we still have more guns than people. Unless you change that fact in reality, all the talk is pointless. Including from idiotic overgrown crybabies like Shannon Watts.

There are anywhere from 300 million to 400 million firearms in private hands. Many, probably millions, are possessed by people with criminal records or who are in violation of local or state gun laws. No government agency is even aware of firearms possessed secretly, so how will they ever confiscate them? Millions of Americans who own their guns legally will literally fight to the death if anyone tries to take them away. I'm not saying that's admirable or detestable, it's just a fact.

It's far too late to reduce the number of guns to an extent that makes an appreciable difference in gun violence. It would cost many hundreds of billions of dollars for the government to buy them at fair market value, and millions of gunowners wouldn't sell them anyway. There's no way at all -- short of illegal house-to-house searches -- to confiscate them from criminals and thugs who own them secretly. That only happens when they're arrested for breaking the law and police have the right to search their property.

What's the answer to gun violence? I have no idea, but maybe a few changes could help. We need to greatly improve mental health care for one thing. It won't be cheap and we were already running trllion dollar deficits annually even before the pandemic. We need to strictly enforce all our laws, put violent offenders behind bars and keep them there. There has to be a change in African American culture; they've been commiting a grossly disproportionate amount of our violent crime for decades, especially homicide and robbery. Now you know how many wound each other with firearms. Whites and Hispanics also commit far too much violent crime. Our society as a whole needs to change.

What do you suggest?

Taking guns away from over 9 million registered gun owners who didn't do anything wrong is only the answer for someone who sucks at math. And the FBI, ATF, and Local Police have more important things to do than to collect guns that weren't used in a crime.

What you are seeing on the news is less than 1% of registered gun owners. And it's also including unregistered guns or stolen guns.

America has more guns than people. We all become desensitized to the violence. Nowhere is safe anymore, whether it's church or the grocery store.

If you honestly (I mean honestly) believe that, when there are over 400 million legal guns in the hands of citizens, while a mere truly minute percentage of these result in mass shootings, then please, for everyone's sake stay in your house.

You are part of the problem by believing the negative hype of the media.

That''s not even remotely true. Nice scare tactics, tho. If all gun owners were out to kill you - you'd already be dead.

Its a good thing, really. Violence will always be a part of life. It only ends once enough people own guns, carry guns and proficient enough using guns to immediately and permanently end these threats every single time one pops up.

That, and, eliminating our problem gang/drug culture by any means neccesary. And stop attacking police officers when they ventilate some scum bag criminal.

And finally, stop trying to control the lives of uninvolved third parties every time something dumb happens. What some random low intelligence idiot does isn't my concern, has nothing to do with me or my property (including my guns)

Do those couple tiny little things and the violence problem is gone in a few years. No other choice, the ones responsible for the bulk of it will be in the ground.

So, more guns will lead to less violence according to you. That makes no sense. A simple misunderstanding or argument ends in unnecessary murder now.

More guns would have resulted in a bullet being put into the bad guy sooner. This is how lives are saved.

When seconds count, law enforcement is only minutes away. As will always be the case. Not their fault, it is how the system is designed (to punish crimes after the fact). The system, our Constitution and state laws, also empowers citizens to carry weapons for defense (to stop a forcible felony in progress)

A simple misunderstanding or argument ends in unnecessary murder now.

Which is exactly why the intended victim of the loose cannon should've been armed. Instead of having to stand there and eat lead, they could eliminate the threat, preventing the murder from taking place.

Or do something to stop the crazy murdering thugs. Put more guns into the hands of sane law abiding citizens would help for starters.
