so I had a small bump on my left palm by my index finger that popped out of nowhere and growing very fast and the imaging showed that it had its own blood supply not to mention I'm a lefty.

i was mostly awake for the operation but I was in and out, if you get general anesthesia you have to stay in the recovery room longer so i opted for medium sedation(Propofol and versed with libral amounts of fentanyl), but when I was aware it was not fun

all rapped up.

I'm on methadone and they just gave me 10mg methadone for any breakthrough pain.

just thought i would share

Haven't done a hard days work in your life judging from the first pick.

Get well soon mate. I see you can still type. Slow isn't it lol.

Have you had the jab? Just checking. Nervous times are afoot.

What is that?

I had something that looked just like that on my back for a few months once.
Finally had my friend slice it open with a knife.

It bled and a bunch of goo came out. Few weeks later it went away leaving a tiny sunk in spot.

If you'd looked up what a Osteosarcoma is you wouldn't have posted that.
Ain't no spider bite

but yes I had both but this showed up before i got them.

scraedtosleep: It is a mass of bone that is growing out of control, I haven't gotten the pathology back yet as it was just done yesterday.

CharlesT: Orthro and plastics did the operation

gortex: thank you

angelchemuel: i appceate the thoughts

Spacespider: it was like a balloon of bone growing out of the bone that connects you fingers to your wrist of my index finger

That was probably a sebaceous cyst. For some reason they tend to grow in places on your body you can’t reach.

The OP is describing a cancerous growth.

Well, I hope you see improvements from here. You've been on a health streak with your body as of late.

Summer is here and time to get out and be healthy.

Hey, please tell us whatever the pathology calls it.

I am interested, being a pathologist and all hah

Here is hoping that it is completely benign, and completely excised!

Just because I feel the urge, I will make some bets on what it is, based only on what you have said / shown: osteochondroma, exostosis, ganglion cyst, giant cell tumor of tendon sheath, and early palmar fibromatosis top my list!

Big bump you had there, I bet you are glad it is gone.

I see someone mentioned all ready that you got hands that have not seen hard work. Well the scar will make it look like you worked hard for a living, I have multiple little scars on my hands. But a lot of them are fading away lately, which is really weird, or it may just be that there are so many old scars that you can't see any smooth areas anymore. I never liked wearing gloves when I worked.

It is nice that you have friends to do that. My wife won't do anything like that, I asked her to and she said go to the doctor. Two hundred bucks later after what the insurance paid their share, it was fixed, the doctor sliced it and squeezed it and sent some of it to the lab. No trace of bacteria at all, guess my immune system kills microbes well. It was probably a sliver or thorn that would not heal. I can get my granddaughter to help with stuff like that, but the two daughters won't touch anything, they are convinced that the doctors are there to fix everything....I was in school to become a doctor and I asked a lot of questions of doctors treating me over the decades and watched what they did, I learned a lot from getting hurt so many times, but I cannot do something on my back where I cannot properly reach it.

Well the only reason i didn't go to the doctor was because even though i worked full time health insurance was to expensive. This was before the aca.

Hello penroc3,

Fellow Ozzian here, and a lefty as well.....

Not a sand groper like you folks out west, a cane toad, or banana bender here; some call us Queenslanders.

You do have some great gold mines and prospecting though in your state.

Well, that isn't a very good thing to have been found and removed...

I am guessing some bone removal was involved? Pretty serious thing to have happen to someone.

Sounds like you got it taken care of early enough so it won't become a major danger to your health.

Wishing you all the best in your recovery, and long term prognosis.
