This is rather unbelievable.....and pretty sick to me.

So every entrant to one of the largest road races in the country is going to have to be sniffed by a German Shepard before allowed to race.

I am not really sure what to say about this except welcome to your Nazi overlords folks!

The club will deploy a team of dogs trained to detect people with COVID-19 infections, both at the pre-race expo and then again on race day. The company that the track club has contracted with, 360K9, said that the dogs were found to have detected infected people with 99% accuracy in double-blind studies.

“If there’s any chance that you have COVID or have been exposed to COVID or are shedding virus, you will not be able to get to the start line, and we feel very good about that,” track club executive director Rich Kenah said.

This is twisted on a new level....even the main dog in the story is named Lord.

At the expo and on race day, participants who have been vaccinated and can show proof of their immunization will be granted accelerated entry. Those who have not will be subject to sniffing from Lord and his cohorts. Registrants whom the dogs identify will then be asked to take a rapid COVID test at no charge. Those who test positive can either get a refund of their entry fee or switch to a virtual Peachtree.

Seems this is how they will transition for airports to me as well.....basically forcing everyone to get the vaccine or no travel....seems a sneaky way around the passports that have been talked about.

And not only that, but the masking requirements are just silly.

Participants will be asked to wear masks from the time they arrive for the race until they cross the start line, at which point they can unmask. When they reach the finish line, they’ll be expected to mask up again; the race bibs will come with masks contained in watertight pouches.

Madness.....seriously madness.

99% percent accuracy rating... is that when compared against a test that doesn't have 99% accuracy? Why even use tests, let's just get more dogs

Oh good grief. I’ve seen it all now. Didn’t I read somewhere that some cats and dogs can actually catch the virus as well? What if one of these dogs catch it and is happily passing it on through its slobbering, as dogs do! Are the dogs wearing masks??? 😂

I jest of course, but this is ridiculous in my opinion.

Will the dogs be super spreaders after all that sniffing???

PETA/RSPCA take note.

Considering nobody knows how it is spread still.....I would bet dogs can carry it....

I hate to say it but that movie 'Idiocracy' is becoming more and more true everyday.

And the masters of fear porn...

Three snow leopards test positive for coronavirus, making it the sixth confirmed animal species

Recall the Tanzanian goat & pawpaw survived so the leopard should be fine. Good times - www.youtube.com...
Oh yea, that Populist leader was recently silenced, permanently.

What is even crazier is doing this after the Braves and United announce going to 100% capacity very soon. The risk is minimal

I imagine this will be the smallest field ever for the Peachtree Road Race.

My husband's reaction as someone WITH an anaphylactic allergy (not to any animals, though) --

"It would be some seriously EPIC #ing karma if one of the participants has a bad anaphylactic reaction to dog dander. Wish I had one, I'd race just to prove a point -- the road the hell, and good intentions. Micromanagey assholes."

Could NOT have said it better myself, lmfao XD

So.....

The People with the gene therapy don't shed their now unnatural and abominable proteins all over the place, but someone with covid smells different?

How is the dog supposed to distinguish between a vaccinated person and a none vaxxed person, considering vaxxed idiots still shed the FRIGGING Virus!

This is just too stupid to be reality, please let me leave this planet.... Lord come back!!

Had not even thought of that.....and I would guess out of the 10's of thousands that do this race there are quite a few that are allergic to dogs.

This whole thing is a $hit/clown show.

Please don't call the dog when it is working. You know, Lord. Good Lord, good boy.

This is getting beyond ridiculous. There are so many Peachtree streets, roads, avenues, etc.. in Atlanta, they will probably drop the dogs off on the wrong one.

You want to run no matter what? Sprinkle everyone around you and yourself with pepper. That is as long as you don't mind dogs sneezing on you.

On the same note. No one stops to ask how you could judge the accuracy of the dog in the first place. You would have to test each person that was sniffed positive with an actual covid test to see if they really had covid...need I say more. Does nobody do science any more?

Speaking of that, how in the heck did they determine the accuracy of the covid test without electron scan verification of several thousand cases. Oh wait, they didn't.

I imagine another reason is trying to get Georgians to get the vax in the first place. Georgia is still lagging behind

DISCLAIMER: I'M NOT SAYING ANYONE SHOULD EVER TRY THIS, but.....

The first thought I had upon reading this was...

I wonder what would happen if someone had several pieces of raw bacon in their hands, and if they were casually wiping it onto others clothes, whilst standing in line awaiting this 'sniff test'.

I think..the reaction would be different, when dogs get a hit from what they are trained to sniff out, they generally sit. Covered in bacon, it might just want to lick you to death, or not sit anyway. I have heard it's the trickiest part of training dogs..getting them to ignore food.

So...that is the other part...in the article it says if a dog points you out as covid positive they have rapid tests on-site to test you. If negative you can run...if positive they will turn you away and you can get a refund at some point.

I'd guess the dog failure rate is high enough that they have to offer the rapid tests....which seems really odd too.

Whole thing is like a Nazi Germany separation line. The sole fact they already have dogs trained to sniff covid out, in high enough numbers to handle a possible 60k person crowd tells me they are training for something much larger.

This is a test basically.

I've learned from a couple cases I have done some work on that cayenne powder/mist will ruin any scent for hours.

Same principle applies to all animals, only those animals that have a enlightened smell it has a much worse effect on.

And I don't know why, but this quote from the article just screams dictator to me...

“If there’s any chance that you have COVID or have been exposed to COVID or are shedding virus, you will not be able to get to the start line, and we feel very good about that,”

Ok, so what is the plan.
A dogo sits next to you, which gives the canine unit probable cause to search you for covid-90.
Interesting.
