My bad.
I thought somehow the deadline was still in the future.
Anyhow, as of this post the contest is officially closed to new entries.

If you haven't done so already, please read and vote for your favorites.
Voting continues for a week, since I seem to have lost a few days.
I blame the Full Moon for this.....yeah....that's it....the Full Moon....and wasn't it odd this month for some reason

I've experienced the same. Time has become a strange beast that I just can't seem to keep up with.

I missed entering my story because I got sidetracked by real life crap. I had the beginning and ending pinned down, but got lost in the 'muddle' and just ran out of time.

Anyway, there are so many great entries that I've already voted generously the stories I liked as they were posted.

Good luck to all participants!

Thank you all here on ATS for supporting me in my attempt to become a better writer.

DTOM, I would like to pass the honor of choosing the next contest topic to jensouth31... both as an olive branch for my critique and because me choosing a topic always seems to turn out to be a disaster.

As for me, writing that story seems to have turned on something inside of me that I don't really like.

So I am going to do my own personal coddiwomple and see where I turn up (nods to AccessDenied).

Thanks for the gracious passing of the torch, Lumenari!!!

Good look on your journey....life certainly takes us on a lot of bizarre twists and turns.

I'll let jensouth31 that the mantle has been passed.

Wow, I made it into the top 3 and even earned a writer status. What good is it?

And I think it is 3 new writers, as CBC and I ended up on the second place.

Thanks everyone for reading, commenting, and voting. I'm looking forward to the next contest.

Very happy to correct you...Your topics are not the problem,
I really think it is the timing that is.I remember the times we
were begging others to write stories.

Congratulations to all the winners!

I sometimes wonder whether we'll ever see a print collection of the best ATS stories, or even several volumes?
Perhaps divided into genres like horror, fantasy and science fiction (I'd even add poetry and collaborative writing).
For example, The Best of ATS Short Stories: Science Fiction.
Or even an annual volume.

I think especially young readers will love it (considering many of us here are unreconstructed teens at heart, OK with a bit more experience).

Not only could it promote literacy, but it could also be a nifty collector's item.
Authors included might waver payment, although I'd expect a free copy (if published in that volume), and it's something to add to one's CV/creative portfolio.
And getting published in print for the first time these days is not easy, so I'm sure a lot of aspiring writers would agree to those terms.
Besides, no individual is exactly going to publish their own novel, it will be a page or two per writer in a volume.
I've read some short-stories here that are on par or even better than the stuff by H.G. Wells et al. we studied in school.

Any profits could be used by the site collectively as the admins see fit.

Great idea and it has been mentioned before.

Until we find out who the new owners are we are left dangling.
