If OP or anyone are not familiar, the bottom video is CGI, not any real soldier robot.
The channel is known for these types of videos.

m.youtube.com...

We aren't exactly "there" yet.
Patience.

Battery's in pooper scoop's, sorry could not resist.

They are a vital addition if they can be proven in battle.

A machine that can both carry more than a solider allowing a foot patrol to go further for longer and deeper behind enemy lines with more supply's on hand and of course as AI improves yes we will see autonomous fighting robot's in military's around the world.

A lot of these will likely bare no resemblance to the human form however given the old argument that a humanoid robot may be created to do job's designed there is a probability that we shall see terminator like androids of some description arriving at some point in time.

The nice thing is that if these become real they will cut down on soldier casualty's but the bad thing is that they will not have the same morality a human has and pose a far greater threat than a professional soldier does to civilian's.

Also what is to stop them being hacked, reprogrammed and used by the enemy.

And if an autonomous robot military is created how long before it disobeys orders and turns on it's creators seeing them as valid targets?.

some paint onto the sensors.

That's it's real weakness.
machines can't feel the world around them like we can.
Disable the sensors and it's done.

Having thought about where could these dog robots lead to a bit more,

If we go full dystopian robot world why not have a giant version, aircraft carrier sized or bigger, with a nuclear reactor power plant,a hollow body filled with thousands of different kinds of specialist assault/destroy/repair/scavenge robots and drones which can be deployed on local missions as needed.
It would also have pods of any weapons needed to defend itself -rail gun/laser/particle beam/hellfire/phalanx/nukes,that kind of stuff.
And redesign the front facing sensor array so it looks more like an AT-AT from starwars.
It should also have telescopic legs powered by some of the reactor generated steam, which would allow it to opperate off the coast,or walk over buildings.
Give it an autonomous A.I. system, based on a modified tiger brain for stealth, agression and hunters instinct.
Then just set it loose and see what it does.

I see laws to be written over this.

All parts of all robots that roam off the robot owners physical property will need to have serial numbers for tracking back to the robot that it fell off of. The owner of the robot must reimburse any expense encountered from this dropped part. This includes any injury caused by encountering any part up to and including charges of manslauder to the robot owner should the part be picked up by a lawnmower or other device and cause fatal enjury to the device operator or any bystanders.

Sounds like a good fourth law of robotics.

Yes.

But much more importantly: does robot dog poo smell ?
