This "prayer" was published in a NYT bestselling devotional.

You can see all the pages of the "prayer", which begins with the words "Please help me to hate White people", in the link. And if you read the whole thing, she makes it clear she hates all white people. Apparently, whiteness is a sin, and she even asks God to get out judgment, so clearly, she is all about damning people to Hell in His stead.

How this thing even made it into a so-called devotional and was allowed to be labeled a "prayer" is beyond me. Imagine asking God to make you hate another human being for any reason, but especially for the cardinal sin of having the wrong skin color.

And she's not wanting to hate the ones who are open racists already. She wants to hate the decent ones, the nice ones. She admits it, and she's not talking about the conservative ones, but also the liberal ones. If you aren't 100% in her corner rioting in the streets or out there openly fighting against her, then she wants to hate you for not being down for the struggle one way or the other.

She's like a former friend of ours who got ticked and finally yelled at us, "It would be so much easier if you'd just say you hated gays!" when, of course, we don't. We disagree with some of their lifestyle aims and points of theology surrounding them.

She asks God to harden her heart and to stop seeing the best in people. Who does that? How is that in any way something God wants in His children?

Just what God is she praying to to grant this prayer? I don't know Him.

The comments to the tweet are far more disturbing than the text itself. And that’s saying quite a bit.

She in a hurry to get to Hell ?
Trying to take that express transit , no stopover.
No one with hate in their heart will enter Heaven .

Damn.
Just damn .

I don't have too imagine as its a prerequisite of Christianity....

*tweet* Five yard penalty; quoting out of context.

The point of the statement is to get a listener to recon the potential cost of discipleship, not that one must literally hate their family (or anyone) to follow Christ.

We are enjoined to hate sin, not sinners.

The point of the statement is the word "hate" and why it was intentionally used. Similarly "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." means 0% love for everything else. If you love anything else you don't love God with "all" your heart.

So sin can be seen as everything else. If you live in everything else you live in sin. Thus eating from the material world is sin when viewed from the mind. The material world only turns sinless when witnessed from the soul.

This is why praying in the “Name”, is really about praying for things that are in alignment with God and love etc…has nothing to do with using the physical name of Jesus…

It's like if you’re going to do things in the Name of democracy…you have to do things in the essence of what democracy stands for…or you wouldn’t be doing it the name of democracy at all…

Same applies to following God imo…

One of my favorite shirts says I can do all things with a verse taken out of context.

Here is the entire chapter. The last 3 verses tie it up nicely. Those handed over to a reprobate mind won't understand anyway.

And God enjoins us to love our fellows in our turn. Your way sets up a paradox.

If we love God, we follow His commands. We can't do that if the only thing we are to love is Him because He commands us to love others in our turn.

Are this kind of things real, or just created to gaslight the good people ?

How can we tell what is real, or what is gaslighting ?

Divide and conquer being used against us again ?

88% 1 star rating is nice to see. The comments are disturbing but likely friends or relatives of author.

For all I know, the rest of the book might be nice enough. Life is busy at the moment, so it's not like I've had time to run over to Tar-zhay and attempt to peruse it myself, assuming they have a copy.

Maybe. That 1 prayer ensures I would never support the author to find out.

I completely support freedom of speech and religion. Emboldening radicals might have negative consequences though and kids are very impressionable.

This fits an obvious agenda, and seems to target an obvious audience.

Not a paradox at all. When one exist in ones soul one see's everything as being in the image of God. So when the spirit loves God 100%, it loves all of existance 100%. The mind is incapable of such love. You cannot force the mind to love anything. Its self serving.

Still a paradox; you would end up loving your family.

So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple

Forsaketh all that you have in this material world for GOD.

Last two versus equate too...
When the material world (land) looses its savour, man will cast it our and turn to God.

If doesn't rebute anything I have said. What exactly are your reading in those versus with your mind?
