While plans to establish standardized vaccination proof are still being developed, many are holding to their Covid-19 vaccine cards as a potential form of social currency.
The sentiment was shared by Dr. David Drew Pinsky (@drdrew), who called for everyone to get vaccinated but remained an opponent of any form of government sanctioned passport. He wrote, "These vaccine passports segregate people and strip them of their freedom to travel internationally. Vaccinations are important, and I encourage everyone to get the Covid vaccine, but how would you feel if international travel also required other vaccinations?"
For many it is still an issue where the rallying cry is "freedom," which is why hashtags for vaccine passports have trended with holocaust and fascism. "The vaccine passport to them symbolizes government overreach," said Sterling. "They've also been conditioned – partly by social media – to reflexively reject all things having to do with taking Covid seriously. Social media is where these conspiracies have been disseminated and amplified."
By the numbers: 41% of Republicans say they don't plan to get a vaccine if it's available to them. Only 33% say they do plan to get vaccinated.
70% of Democrats and a plurality of independents (47%) say they plan to get vaccinated.
White Americans are now less likely than Black and Latino Americans to say they plan to get the vaccine.
The bottom line: The virus doesn't care about politics, and it certainly won't confine itself to states with the largest unvaccinated populations. High rates of vaccine hesitancy among any group threatens our collective progress against the pandemic, meaning that it's just as important to reach white Republicans as it is to reach other hesitant groups.

keeping vaccine cards laminated
I read that laminating vaccine is a mistake. They will be adding boosters and mutation vaccines later and you need to be able to have that notated on the card.
"Let me be very clear on this. I know there's been lots of questions," Psaki said during the press briefing Tuesday. "The government is not now, nor will we be, supporting a system that requires Americans to carry a credential." Psaki went on to say that "there will be no federal vaccinations database and no federal mandate requiring everyone to obtain a single vaccination credential."
"As these tools are being considered by the private and non-private sectors, our interest is very simple from the federal government," Psaki continued. "Which is, Americans' privacy and rights should be protected. And so that these systems are not used against people unfairly." President Biden's chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci this week also said that the government will not mandate vaccine passports for travelers or businesses after the pandemic is over. "I doubt that the federal government will be the main mover of a vaccine passport concept," Dr. Anthony Fauci, who also serves as President Biden's chief medical adviser, told the Politico Dispatch podcast on Monday. "They may be involved in making sure things are done fairly and equitably, but I doubt if the federal government is going to be the leading element of that," he added.
Still, some private businesses and organizations may look at developing ways to confirm that someone is vaccinated. Fauci spoke to this during his appearance on the Politico Dispatch podcast, noting that businesses or schools may require them to enter their buildings. "I'm not saying that they should or that they would, but I'm saying you could foresee how an independent entity might say, 'well, we can't be dealing with you unless we know you're vaccinated,' but it's not going to be mandated from the federal government," he said.

A vaccine is designed to protect people. This one probably might be, too, and as the data builds up the truth will appear. However, now, just like virus itself, the vaccine has become a political weapon.
All I'm saying is something just doesn't feel right and I think a lot of people on ATS are seeing it too.
