Cancelling the Cancel Culture

Okay, so let me give you a bit of background..

We all know that the youth of today, throughout the Western world & sometimes a little further afield, the so-called 'woke revolution' & 'cancel culture' has been hemmed in with BLM rioting, extreme leftist flakiness in media, gender identity politics, extreme cultural revisionism & reparations screeching, all held together with the glue of extreme narcissism & attention seeking behaviours.

This witches' brew of snowflake/ anarchist/ post post-modernist/ ultra feminist/ check your privilege has bound up huge swathes of today's youth, who are no longer described as disaffected, but rather could easily be considered 'over-affected', with such a cacophany of ever-crazier mission creep that they are only properly understood when they are properly defined.

But definitions have proven tricky, because aside from the general young age of most of those involved, particularly with regards to the 'cancel culture' activism, there's just too much going on to really nail it down & express succinctly just what the heck the problem actually is.. Why do such a broad range of people groups whom we once would have expected to disavow each other's respective microculture legitimacy, in actual fact seem to have merged their individual thoughts, words & actions, becoming facets of a larger whole which could perhaps be distilled down into a monoculture identifiable as 'woke revolutionary cancel council' (WRCC).

You don't need me to recount the many woes of disenfranchised Gen-X'ers who are observing this slow motion train wreck as it hurtles along, seemingly having dashed all hopes that it will ever come to a halt before it sets fire to the future. The interlocking layers of Project Stupid, as the hapless wonders piss & moan about revisionist lunacy, unsought allies & reparations revolutionaries, the Twitterarti & their bluebird harbingers of doom - it all adds up to a frankly desolate view of the years to come. We are entering a dark age in which common sense & the value of inherited customs has been lost, and will remain lost until the so-called 'woke' generation really do 'awaken' from their self-obsessed & self-defeating snowflakery.

Is there any way on God's green Earth that we can lay down new track quickly enough to avert a monumental disaster, giving our future descendents the chance to right the wrongs of revisionist lunacy, repealing the insane changes brought on by a destabilising fifth column, who actually planned this out carefully, baiting all the right traps so that the kids would walk into the jaws of Hell being totally unawares of what awaits them, unconcerned with anything other than how they look on the outside, or who can make the best YouTube feature of the experience, 5G transmitting a bleak chorus of "What's up guys, hope you're doing good? You're gonna love this, you'll never believe where I am right now....."

With that as my introduction, I want to share what I believe may be a critical insight, which I haven't seen eksewhere, so if you rate it please share it in the hope that we can ultimately cross-pollinate sufficiently to ensure that the fallout from this dark time departs more swiftly than it arrived in our midst..

As a youth, I was easily led astray, and indeed I did the leading from time to time. After hitting a very hard rock bottom (binge drinking, solvents & heavy cannabis/amphetamine use) I called out to God & sure enough He saved me from myself (the process took over a decade, and still continues each & every day, though I haven't been drunk for almost ten years & I stopped all drug use in 2006. What got me out of the hellish pit I'd dug for myself was brotherhood, prayer/worship/meditation & most overwhelmingly a noble cause to live for. As I reflected on these facts this Easter morning, I became cogniscant that I had apparently stumbled upon the glue which bonds all those disparate micro-cultures into a monolithic 'Beast with seven heads & ten horns' (sorry kids, it was that or Medusa, what's a metaphor to do..?

What bonds all of these kids together is not 'social justice', or 'enlightenment/ woke principles' - it's not even 'no-platforming' the speakers they don't agree with. It's the simple dynamic of youth hormones, sugar, caffeine, tribalism & vulnerability to propaganda. Of these, the most crucial aspect is tribalism. They have all found (in part, a shadow of the real deal) a cause to fight for. They recognise the 'brothers & sisters' of their interconnected global tribe of peers, their very own large scale secret society, into which the adults in the room have no access. They see themselves as espousing a movement of collective virtue, with a mission to upend the ruling powers & shake the tree to see what new type of system falls down to replace the old one.

The only trouble is, that last time we did that, a man & woman suddenly realised they were naked.

I hypothesise that the only way to disarm this runaway derailment catastrophe is to give them a different cause to fight for. Give them a truly just fight, one into which they can only go voluntarily, when they are in full possession of the facts. Give them a mystery to solve, give them an inheritance to value, give them an assurance of their value & inspire them by leading from the front. The only way to dissolve the toxic 'Us & Them' mentality is by courageously demonstrating forgiveness yet also maintaining your position if you strongly believe yourself to be right in your appraisal of the matter. Show them that it's okay to disagree by inviting them to put forward their exact perspective on the issue which is in question, and then show them how it's done:

"I respect you, and your right to that opinion - but your rights end where the infringement of another's rights begin..."

-- Something to do;
-- Someone to love;
-- Something to look forward to.

Look for common ground in these simple areas, and everyone will realise just how remarkably similar we actually are. And how our differences are mostly quite trivial in comparison. If the differences have become dangerous to the innocent, or to the smooth functioning of a person's livelihood, then that's why we have policing & a justice system.

Until 'no-platforming' is recognised as a hate crime we will have no relief sufficient to lever things back into balance - because 'might is right' to the naive thinker who's riled up with the joys of mob rule, mob justice - again, it's that clarity of purpose, a cause to fight for.. If the court of public opinion judges that person deserving of a cancelled event, then these immature souls will continue to do what it is that their peers, the media, soft parents & their politician wranglers have been rewarding them for doing. Which is hatefully deriving a person of a legitimate right to free speech where people have assembled to hear them deliver their speech/ lecture. Anyone interfering with the hallowed principle of freedom of thought in a Western democracy should expect to be put to shame by the legal system - their intolerace could be to the direct detriment of the audience to whom the speaker is addressing their words, and as an infringement of individual freedoms that would seem to constitute an assault against the liberty of their personhood, their sovereign right to self-determination.

We need to be united by interest in a common cause. UFO proof perhaps?

Until 'no-platforming' is recognised as a hate crime

All violent crimes are hate crimes thus no use for the term "hate crimes". It's quite obvious that when Obama/Holder installed all of this "hate crime" nonsense, that at the time and up till today it has been used arbitrarily as a race weapon selectively towards those born without melanin.

These spoiled rotten children who think they are so oppressed and screech equality don't even know the meaning of the word since they have been brain washed by a system of racist beliefs designed to further divide and create hate, yet they can't see it!

Unless a law is applied equally without the consideration of ones race, that law in itself is racist and hateful!

Other than that, well done!

TL : DR

The time to solve the problem has passed. People stopped slapping around their children when they got out of line. They stopped expecting their children to meet high standards.

As a society we stopped expecting a certain level of behavior from people and we allowed warped thinking and lower standards to take over our school systems and higher education. People started apologizing for being themselves and stopped maintaining their privacy and others took that and ran with it.

We allowed the media to assume too much power over our lives and technology to lord over it all, so that now everything is inextricably linked to that technology and no one has privacy.

But, mostly, people got stupid and lazy and now we are paying for it.

I'm of an age whereby the 'hate crime' conditioning was being rolled out in media as I was growing up, so I didn't even notice what I did there until you pointed it out.

[ETA - I suppose what I was getting at with my original reference to the 'recognise no-platforming as a hate crime' is that it should be treated as an equally egregious crime against the sovereign personhood & right to self-determination of the people being no-platformed, as well as those who intend to listen to their speech/ lecture..]

Maybe I have a tiny sliver of sympathy for these poor, brainwashed, deluded simpletons after all.

But they're still monumentally skilled at being totally f&$%(ing stupid, and that's pretty much on them & their parents.

I remember when the whole "hate crime" thing was being rolled out. Myself and a few others on ATS were dead against it and what we warned would happen, happened.

To be honest, I'd rather pay for a Paddle Circus.

Big-ass wooden paddles, all a buck per swing for all the older generations to do what today's kids' parents refused to -- lay the smackdown and put them in their place. The world's cultures are ALL each a pecking order, do you really think people are ignoring their stepping out of line? They didn't, it's like thinking Grandma didn't see you do that supremely #ty thing to the siblings, no fool, she saw and your ass is grass later, enjoy the false got-away-with-it glee while you can. Same idea, but applied to the more seasoned generations of societies.

Some things have gone too far, even for very liberal minded youth.
The most recent one I can think of is the straight person should be able to date a transgender without issue.
A lot more people are not OK with this that is being pushed.

Many people are OK with transgender, and people that want to date them willingly. As
Soon as you attack people not OK with that you are losing support for your cause.

What about this: I dont care. It's all BS. I'll not argue with mentals. There's no Soros paying me. Not enough female nagging hormones or any psychiatric drugs in me making me psychotic. I believe it might be Trump who started cancel culture. Wasn't he the one who said to boycott the NFL years ago? Or did I get that wrong? And don't some of you still talk about how you don't watch NFL anymore? Didn't Trump go on about Amazon at one point?

Seems to me, some of you want to play by different rules than what you expect others to play by?

too bad that people talking about boycotting[i] MLB is actually a response to cancel culture[i] moving high profile games from an area to punish said area for daring to insure fair elections, by working to stop people who can not legally vote, from voting. it is a direct response to cancel culture's persecution of innocent people and businesses.
