Any college music programs that has not begun to move away from focus on those old European composers is decades out of touch with the advancing creativeness that is currently evolving in classical music composition.

It's not about canceling the ''masters'', its about sampling from a wider variety of world musical cultures

You’re right. It is absolutely unthinkable that a European university would teach about European music.

I’m sure in Seoul University they only teach Mexican Narcocorrido as opposed to Korean music.

Your son is only 18?

I thought he'd be like 40.

But is it though?

Sheet music is still required learning if you want to be an actual musician.

Purely from a historical perspective it would be interesting to see just what type of music was written by sub Saharan peoples during the same period as the white Europeans such as Beethoven of the day.
Not including Wakanda.

So are you suggesting that a European University should focus only on European art? That's rather limiting huh?

His grandson is like 40. His son is 18.

What ''sheet music'' are we talking about here anyway? All sheet music? I don't suspect so, rather that total reliance upon those notational limitations be relaxed.

That's a fair point, but that's not why they're doing it. They're doing it because of " muh racism" . It's the reasoning behind it that's f%#king retarded.

Of course he didn't, he was being sarcastic as there was no indication from the article presented that that was the proposal of those staff members who were offering suggestions on course changes.

But it's Oxford.

The Universities have a cultural obligation to promote exceptional standards.

But hey, wtf do I know?

I'm just a lowly peasant that couldn't afford to go to Uni.
