One step closer to WW3 .

Now could not be worse time to have such a weak President in offce .

Actually, I believe Biden is bought and paid for so there is no need for war China can pretty much do as it pleases after all like Biden said the abuse of the Muslims in China is just cultural differences.

Why not. We’ve been building castles made of sand the last few years. Can’t we play at the beach instead of the oasis. Somewhere tropical instead of itchy.

Speaking of making sand castles, China has lots of new beach front property now, no?
Spratlys, Second Thomas Shoal, etc.
Prime resort locations.
I think there's a waiting list for the cruises though.

Lol. Knowing my luck I’d need a vaccination id and a stint in re-education 101.

Iran and China have achieved a "strategic partnership" together for at least the next 25 years.
Iran will recieve finance and probably some under the table "nuclear advice".
China recieves another lapdog.
This should be good.

Makes me wonder if non-compliant citizens of Iran will be sent to China's Muslim re-education centers? or will Iran just expand their secret police on their own

It's a proxy alliance. The two don't align ideologically, not even close, but their interests can intersect.

It's like our Saudi Arabia "alliance". On paper, they're the antithesis of everything we (claim to) stand for, however their geographic location, influence of surroundings, and resources make them convenient at the moment. Though, it should be noted the latter is becoming less relevant/needed.

Seeing as the ME is the front lines for asymmetric warfare amongst powers, it comes as no surprise Iran seeks support from China, especially seeing as Russia is stretched so thin between Ukraine and Syria.

I don't think the Biden Administration comprehends the alliances that are being formed to sink the USA as a "superpower".

Our destiny looks dimmer every day Democrats are in charge of this country.

Definition of vassal state
: a state with varying degrees of independence in its internal affairs but dominated by another state in its foreign affairs and potentially wholly subject to the dominating state

Well, we shall see but the OP has this a vassal state which may or may not be like a Proxy alliance. Regardless any intelligent individual knows this isn't an alliance of equals, just like America bends Saudi Arabia to its needs sometimes the same will happen to Iran with China. For example, will we be pleased if China builds a huge airbase in Iran stocked with brand new Chinese aircraft for the Iranians? Does that make you feel better or worse about the security of the middle east?

Considering our collective asses have been at war there for nearly 3 decades now I doubt this move is looked at as a positive step by the military and I'm certain the MIC is licking their chops. Now the middle east has the US, China, and Russia deeking around and it wasn't exactly a harmonious region, to begin with. Time will tell but China in the middle east isn't a positive development in any way shape or form

From the article which BTW is Axios which leans left

Thought bubble, via Axios' Bethany Allen-Ebrahimian: Iran has become ever more dependent on China, which has offered it a rare economic lifeline amid heavy U.S. sanctions.

The big picture: The agreement may deepen China’s influence in the Middle East and undermine U.S. efforts to keep Iran isolated due the unresolved dispute over Tehran's nuclear program, per the NYT.

Iran's leaders indicated in January that they're willing to strike a nuclear agreement with the Biden administration.
But Biden said last month that Iran will first have to stop enriching uranium above levels set by the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement before the countries can revive the deal.
The U.S. reentering the 2015 Iran nuclear deal remains unpopular with U.S. ally Israel.

Iran is no country’s lapdog. The only time it was ever in danger of that epithet was when the last Shah was being propped up on his throne by the United States.

China and Iran were trading, exchanging ideas and even going to war with each other for millennia before the transatlantic parvenu even existed.

The views and attitudes expressed in this thread display a typically American stupidity about the rest of the world. Hardly surprising, of course; if the leaders of the country are such foreign-policy ignoramuses, it’s hardly to be expected that ordinary Americans would know anything at all. And here you all are, proving it.

It will be another cold war, there has to be an alliance of nations before a one world government is brought in. It will be a great excuse to ramp up spending on the military’s of the world, but why are they all training for urban warfare? It’s because it’s the citizens who they will be fighting. Or domestic terrorists as they like to call us.

Wonder how the Iranian people think about this? Could be some upheaval from within as well. Many other countries are starting to push back on controlling government, it would be a big message to the world if the people said F U to the Iranian leadership.

Iran and China

Well, Iran needs a friend.

Sadly, China's treatment of Muslims and Islam in general is shockingly bad. China ain't no friend of Muslims.

The Iranian religious nutters should be burning Chinese flags in support of their brothers, but no.

Strange are the coils of international bed-jumping.

Looks like I touched a nerve lol.

"Iran is no country's lapdog."

I guess that remains to be seen.

"China and Iran were trading, exchanging ideas and even going to war with each other for millennia before the transatlantic parvenu even existed."

Yes the Silk Road ala 200 B.C. or so.
Also, a millenia ago, China was dynastic in rule and Iran was PERSIA. This isn't exactly hidden knowledge.

"The views and attitudes expressed in this thread display a typically American stupidity about the rest of the world. Flattery will get you nowhere.
Look, just because people have a different opinion than yours, doesn't mean you have to insult them for it. It's okay to think differently from the herd, really.

Careful on that high horse of yours, it's a long tumble down to us plebs.
🙄

Politics makes for strange bedfellows indeed.
I imagine Iran will be tired of being the "bottom" in this relationship sooner rather than later.
The potential for treachery between these countries is off the charts.

I would see this as a long-term move, so the qualities of the current President would be less relevant. China and Pakistan were already close friends in Nixon''s time.
Perhaps. in ten or twenty years time, they may be ensuring the safety of their oil supply by imposing peace on the Middle East.
