Coffin wouldn't work. I sleep on my side with my nee rusting way out. I need at least a 5 foot by 6 foot area. I don't think coffins are that wide.

What the hell is a gimp box? lol

A marble bed would be a dream. I don't just sleep on hard surfaces for my back. I also love it! The harder the better. Even my pillow is like a stone.

Marble sounds as comfortable to me as a down feather mattress sounds to others.
That link is like a porn image. lol I just can't stop looking at it.

This one is great. I would remove that foam mat though. Put a rug down and then I'm all set.

This is the good stuff right here.
Doing tests with different materials is a big help.

I got some sound absorbing pads. The type used for washing machine. The neighbors and I are going to test them under their speakers tonight.

They might have some effect, but speakers move air vibrations through the speaker drivers and resonant ports. They don't operate by conducting vibration to the floor.

All the surfaces in the room that are reached by the sound waves can potentially retransmit sound. It is the elasticity of air and of surfaces that 'resonates' the sound.

A super-stiff object would attenuate sound passing through it, but would also probably reflect it, too. The best idea to attenuate sound is to allow something to move but to have a lot of mass to absorb the movement through inertia.

Are you saying they may not work because the speakers are to light? Or that it wont work because it's the sound waves that come out of the speaker and strike their floor that cause the vibration throughout the house?

Yeah, it's not so much from the frame of the speaker, but the sound waves that radiate out and move things around (walls and floor).

If the later I also have sound blocking foam pads. Like 50 of them. Could they place them on there floor underneath the speaker? Or around the speaker ? Or on their wall and on my wall? Or maybe if I sleep on top of the pads?

Many sound treatment pads are really reflection stoppers. Again, if you want to pull the energy out of the sound, you are going to need to make it move something really heavy and absorb the sound into the inertia it takes to move such a heavy object. And you need to remember that sound, oscillating air pressure, flows around things, too. So sealing things off is important.

Why don't you just send there a UFO to cut their nerves? It works quite well, then they won't be too loud. a reply to: scraedtosleep
