I could be wrong about this but aren't they allowed under the Patriot Act....? After 911 a lot of things changed pertaining to government surveillance and manipulation of laws.

Not without court order. That's what FISA is. They did this with "emergency" orders. A lot of what went on in the immediate aftermath was questionable and justify it by saying that the situation was "unprecedented" but I don't see a whole lot of work to justify any of it legally in retrospect either.

No "emergency" can legally usurp the United States Constitution....NONE.

I now wonder where the #$@#$ is the ACLU during this????

Aren't they the AMERICAN Civil Liberties Union???

Aren't these people AMERICANS???

Haven't their civil liberties been violated???

Oh wait.......they are not on the same "political team"....right...

Revealed at yesterday's Congressional Hearing. The FBI (Christopher Wray) knew the Jan 6th Capitol attack was being planned in mid-December. He informed NO ONE. (That we are aware of)

Fighting this is like fighting the creators of a board game. You can't argue with them over the rules they set up. It's like arguing with your parents over how to run the house.

Time to subpoena his phone and email records from November through Jan 6th.

It's almost like they knew ahead of time what they were told to do !!

Very suspicious and reeks of a setup coming 😃🎩

It sure does. As is the continued constant and consistent references to "MAGA" and "Trump" supporters when it's common knowledge it was far more than that.

I've been collecting links on *that* side of the Capitol protest, just haven't had time to make it a thread yet...

Local press here has been running stories about the scary Proud Boys and how extensive they are locally already. It's funny/weird considering how Proud Boys never ever showed up at any of the BLM stuff that did happen albeit not in any grand fashion over the summer. So how extensive and well-organized here can they actually be?

Yeah, I know what you mean... Those Proud Boys would seem to be everywhere and nowhere all at the same time.

My best guess is that the Proud Boys are an FBI creation from whole cloth, meant to oh-so-easily entrap and entice the MAGA/Trump supporters into saying and doing stupid things. I'm sure the FBI was quite confident it would be a cake walk. I'm also sure the FBI was wrong.

Hence the Capitol protest set up and framing.

So who oversees the FBI.... when they blatantly sidestep oversight and laugh at the constitution?

I think we need to start spying on Congress and their three letter agencies, something like Project Veritas would work.

The can use a Doe subpoena to track all cell phones in an area during a time period.

If you have a smartphone with GPS they can tell within 5 feet of where you are/were.

A doe subpoena can tell everyone's phone number who was in the capital building during the invasion.

They then only need the name of who owns the phone.

Think a burner phone hides you, think again.

Unless you never turn on the phone at home they will see the home base of the phone over time and can find out who lives there.

Or if you go to a location that has cameras, and they cross-check the camera data with the GPS data and can get your photo

We also know from court filings that the one organized group that did plan something as a very small group of Oath Keepers, not anyone else, and they took extensive steps to follow laws as closely as possible, even going so far as to follow DC's firearms laws which is why the only person shot was likely Ashli Babbit shot by law enforcement. No one else had their firearms.

They did wear tactical gear and carry bear spray and a few batons.

The lawlessness ...

Anyone who thinks obeying any laws that are on the books is a fool. Your government is proving that to you daily through their actions and deeds.

Seize your freedom with both hands. Two-tiered justice ... is no justice at all.

From what I can tell, the government as a whole, not just Democrats or Republicans, not just anti-Trump or pro-Trump factions, has gained a lot of surveillance power since 9/11. Apparently, they are able to buy data from private companies about their customers, which allows the government to legally avoid warrants and the like.

I would recommend assuming that the feds have access to everything you see, do, and type online! And if you have a cell phone, I would assume they have access to both your past and present location data, and definitely have access to who you have contacted and when.

They don't buy it. Your ISP and your cellular service gladly provide that information on you daily. Not metadata either ... everything you do, everywhere you go, everything they can record. You think Facebook tattles? Twitter? They ain't got squat on your ISP. Not a US citizen (and even if you are) ... don't worry ... the five eyes have that covered too.

Don't get me started on the persistent stereoscopic satellite imagery.

Everything you do winds up in the Utah Data Center and at an underground data center in Maryland. I've toured the facility in Maryland in the early '90s. Your mind boggles at the facility's scale. You can literally observe the curvature of the Earth (this was pointed out during 'the tour' along with the words, "more square footage than Disney World"). There's so much airflow in there you can't hear yourself think. Hearing protection is mandatory. And, you get around on golf carts that can tote a half-rack of servers (which I thought was a very clever mod). Another in-the-know buddy of mine says to me, "You only saw the one level?"
