The re-invigorated attack on the first amendment continues unabated

Since the installation of the Harris-Biden dynamic duo, as well as DC Demoncrat control of the house and senate, the attack on our first amendment rights has found its second-wind. Today the Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a hearing on the "traditional media's role in promoting disinformation and extremism".

“The prolonged severity of the COVID-19 pandemic and the attack on our Capitol on January 6 have driven home a frightening reality: the spread of disinformation and extremism by traditional news media presents a tangible and destabilizing threat,” said Pallone and Doyle.

On its surface, this sounds like a reasonable topic for discourse, but as usual when it comes to the party of unity and tolerance, nothing is what it seems to be. The DC Democrats are experts at accusing others of what "they themselves" are doing. Looking behind the scenes of what preceded this hearing gives us a much better idea of the aim and end-game of this hearing. Namely, to silence dissent and make the liberal owned media state-sanctioned and the official "Ministry of truth".

Ahead of a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing Wednesday, California Democratic Reps. Anna G. Eshoo and Jerry McNerney wrote a letter to Comcast, AT&T, Spectrum, Dish, Verizon, Cox, Altice, Roku, Amazon, Apple, Google, and Hulu.

The Democrats telegraphed their intentions when Eshoo and McNerney assumed the role of prosecutors to ask the companies what steps they took “prior to, on and following the Nov. 3, 2020, elections and the Jan. 6, 2021, attacks to monitor, respond to and reduce the spread of disinformation...
Eshoo and McNerney further exposed their repressive intentions when they asked the companies if they are “planning to continue carrying Fox News, OANN and Newsmax” on their platforms “both now and beyond the renewal date?” and “if so, why?”

The push to silence opposing ideologies as well as dissent, also deprives conservatives of a platform to counter the lies, false accusations, and narrative leveled at anyone not parroting the party rhetoric, including their own constituents who aren't far enough left. Centrists be damned.

It is fortunate that the Trump appointed Commissioner of the FCC was willing to risk the ire of "big tech" and voice his opinion on twitter.

“I call on my FCC colleagues to join me in publicly denouncing this attempt to stifle political speech and independent news judgment,” Carr said in a statement on Twitter. “The Democrats are sending a message that is as clear as it is troubling — these regulated entities will pay a price if the targeted newsrooms do not conform to Democrats’ preferred political narratives.”

What is unfortunate is that comments such as this...

go mostly unchallenged and unabated.

Where is the "rage against the machine"? Where is the rage against the machinations of the elitist left? Where is the push-back from our elected representatives? Where is the outrage from a citizenry that should be livid at an agenda that will eventually have its effect on ALL of us, not just conservative or centrist minded folks.

I am reminded of Martin Niemöller who spent 7 years in a concentration camp for his willingness to oppose Hitler and Nazism...

I am also reminded of Edward Snowden. Whatever you may think of him, he spoke the truth when he said...

If we as a nation do not confront and crush this now, free speech will be no more than a memorial in our minds. We will be quoting Winston Smith from Orwell's 1984 silently...

I find it amazing how information is selected to be censored.

Every presidential debate, press conference and state of the Union address are full of disinformation, exaggerations and outright lies.
Every release from political positions are the same.

It basically comes down to this, Congress is pushing corporations to do their bidding to destroy the 1st. Listen to the officers of Salesforce and their doublespeak describe how they are going to attack anyone who doesn't agree with the PARTY. Sounds like the CCP!

Loving that link to the Buffalo Public schools story about systemic racism. That's just amazing. And of course 5/10 years from now when these kids are old enough to act out their outrage by attacking their presumed enemies, will there be any expression of outrage......I doubt it. The stories probably wont even be covered.

Totally not.

I am glad that I did all the research I did do over the last twelve years. Much of that research will be removed from public view in the next year, scientific research will only be available to those who make policy and their interpretations will be the only ones allowed. We will not have the ability to verify if their interpretation of things is correct if censorship is allowed by those seizing power presently. No questioning a doctor, no questioning a medicine, we will be forced to take medications that someone believes may work for us. We will not have any possible way to see if they are adversely effecting us.

The idea of the Democrat party along with liberals is to dope us up so we comply. To keep us a little sick or make us fear sickness so we will follow their lead, since they are the ones that say we need these meds to be moderated and easier to control. Yes, the Republicans benefit by this too, but most conservative doctors I know still try fixing things naturally by informing the people to stop their bad eating habits before giving them meds....yet most people still wind up on meds because people don't like reason anymore, they want what they want in America....we have gotten spoiled.

If they take away our first ammendment rights, it usually means the ones in power want to stay in power and restrict the ability of anyone to challenge them. Our freedom of speech was created by members of the churches, as were many social programs to help those in need. Those churches were Christian, not Muslim, Muslim people do not have freedom of speech usually, they are bound by the rules of the religion. The Chinese do not have freedom of speech nor do they have freedom of religion, look at the atrocities that have occured there over the years. The Chinese and Muslims want to come here so they are not enslaved by their government or religion.

I think the USA is going backwards these days, People seem to focus on hate and negativity more than ever these days, they think changing the government to a worse government is going to help. I would rather live in the USA than in China, the middle east, or most countries in Europe, those people have way less rights. I am not one that wants to follow the leader, I want to be good and follow my own path and make my own decisions based on following my basic rules, being honest and trustworthy. But look at how many people will deceive others just to get ahead in America nowadays, deceit is acceptable as long as you do it in a way that is allowed in society, to parrot a lie is socially acceptable, investigating if the lie is real is becoming improper. I think it is a lot less like Hell in Hell Michigan than it is in the rest of the country these days.

Er, um, while he’s an arrogant narcissist, he’s not nearly as vindictive or petty as Biden?

Fox News knows it lies, that's why it is listed as an entertainment network and not a news organization. It couldn't be an accredited news organization if it tried. Even in lawsuits, Fox News says that their anchors should not be trusted and that any reasonable viewer would never believe them. That's their defense usually.

It does cause a problem for our country when viewers believe entertainment networks like Fox News and Newsmax, which are outright lying to their viewers on purpose, and even know it.

I believe that a movement based on lies is about as strong as a castle built on a foundation of sand. If the people aren't informed of the truth of their environment, how do they expect to make any reasonable changes to their environment? Anything they try to do will be misguided and lead them astray.

As a conservative, I would be PISSED at Newsmax and Fox News for lying to me all these years, especially recently. I rely on accurate information to make decisions that are actually effective at improving my situation. Being misled about circumstances and the like means I'm wasting my time every time I try to solve a problem in my life.
