So, our friends from China like to send us contaminated meat smuggled into the country. For all the trouble, I cannot see how this is not a blatant offensive act.

So, when do we just legalize the importation of this tainted meat and pass laws so that we are not allowed to know the country of origin?

thenationalpulse.com...

“CBP agriculture specialists found most of the unmanifested animal products commingled in boxes of headphones, door locks, kitchenware, LCD tablets, trash bags, swim fins, cell phone covers, plastic cases, and household goods in a clear attempt to smuggle the prohibited meats,” CBP summarizes.

Many imported meats from China are “affected by African Swine Fever (ASF), Classical Swine Fever (CSF), Newcastle Disease (ND), Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) and Swine Vesicular Disease (SVD).”

Kind of looks like they are mostly dehydrated meats. I don't buy that kind of stuff anymore. It doesn't have to be refrigerated so it can come in all sorts of boxes I suppose. I suppose a lot of this finds it's way into gas stations where they sell road snacks.

Sounds like a literal act of war to me.

But, hey, #notmypresident Jao Baiden says different cultures have different standards and we shouldn't judge, so maybe be Chinese cultural standards sending contaminated meat to the market is no big deal.

Americans don't mind if China kills us and makes us sick. Very strange how tolerant we are of China. Maybe because most of the stuff in Walmart is from China and its cheaper.

In olden days during a siege the besieging army would allow tainted food into the city, hoping that the spread of disease would help hasten it’s end.

Nowadays we call this sort of thing biological warfare.

Thanks China.

Americans are to stupid and lazy to see whats going on in the world with China. If they did, they would use their market power to read a label and reject anything Made in China.

All peeps care about is the lowest price.

I think that this is a slight misrepresentation.

China isn't deliberately sending contaminated meat products to America out of malice or because they want to dump bad products.

Chinese-American are attempting to import Chinese food product for their own consumption, or for consumption by the wider Chinese-American community.

These aren't all "contaminated" products. There regular Chinese food products that haven't been cleared for sale in the US by the appropriate standards bodies. Some of which contain higher levels of certain chemicals (such as preservatives) than are allowed in the US.

This is more or less just another variation on the bush meat trade. Things like this are common in the US ex-pat community as well. People use back door markets to get familiar food products while living overseas.

These products are going to end up in the hands of private citizens who know what they're getting, they're not ending up on the shelves at Walmart.

Well, not all of them. There will always be the occasional bad actor. But mostly these products are being brought by Chinese people.

My standard of living is infinitely better due to Chinese manufactured products. So is yours I suspect. China has made everything form electronics to homewares so much more affordable. I remember when a Microwave was considered a luxury product, then China started making them and they're now almost disposable.

For what price? Polluting everything without been on watch, just so you can buy the newest cheap stuff from China.

You know the work conditions in China, childlabor and you praise it like that? Others life's are ruined so you can marvel about how great it is to have stuff so cheap it becomes "disposable".

The people in control of the US, "tPTB", do not purchase any food staples from China. They are more likely importing Kobe beef from Japan than Spam-type glop from China. Really, they can afford to entirely divorce themselves from any and all purchase dependencies on China. Outsourcing production of everything from food to building materials to manufactured goods to China has been a major wealth fulcrum for people in the West. Now on top of it, while others are consuming toxic Chinese food products, they can use their profits to "opt out" of the Chinese supply chain, and then act condescending (like Jao Bai-den) when anyone has "the nerve" to question if it's really wise to import food staples from the country with the worst environmental standards on the planet. Hmmmmm.

I used to live there. A lot of what you hear on the news is exaggerated or applies equally to the US. Other than its reliance on coal China isn't all that much different from America.

So that you are aware, the carbon footprint of the average Chinese citizen is actually 10 times lower than the average America. Chinse don't tend to have the AC on 24/7, they are more likely to buy a Japanese compact than an American style SUV so their gas millage is much lower, and a lot of Chinese infrastructure is newer and more efficient than the US.

China is currently the world's largest investor in sola and nuclear as well.

Child labor is just as illegal in China as it is in the US, as are sweat shops. But you will still find both in Beijing and New York.

Chinese made consumer goods are typically made in new factories with new equipment. They're pretty efficient. In many ways their costs are cheaper because they have invested in things like automation, not because they ignore environmental laws. In fact, while I was living in China they were busy relocating industrial plants to the west of the country where they were building hydroelectric dams and long distance train lines so that they could produce less pollution in manufacturing and transportation.

Without Chinese manufacturing the life of the average American would be somewhat worse. Affordable TVs, TVs washing machines, cheap AC. About 80% of the homewares in Walmart comes from China. Without China you'd be paying 1990s prices in the 2020s.

I've heard that the Chinese are very harsh toward workers who pass through bad products on the lines. They supposedly get punished pretty good if they screw up on the job.

So, if true, the quality control must be good, plus that job is also covered by the multi-national companies that job out to them. It gets quality controlled at the multi-national company's distribution centers as well. That's at least three levels of quality control going on there.

On the other hand, I can totally believe there are devious communist plots to dump bad products on U.S. markets and corrupt companies here willing and eager to take them.

Considering that some Chinese people make part of their living dredging fat lumps out of the sewers, remelting it and selling it back to restaurants over there, I can't say I would greatly trust any cooking fat that came from China.

Hmm, makes you wonder if someone in a viral research laboratory somewhere in the US or maybe Porton Down or even Russia may have developed a virus that is genetically tailored to target just Han.

Perhaps something that would appear innocuous once sprayed from the cargo planes flying into Chinese airports to deliver there freight but with an extremely short incubation and extreme fatality.

Of course if they have then they have probably shelved it because China is in the same boat as the rest of the world, falling birth rate, unsustainable economy as the aging population with no children to replace them are forced to work to the day they die and finally a depopulation of all the formerly developed nations of the world within just a couple of generations, if any nation wants power it only has to do one thing HAVE LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF KIDS and educate, train, and utilize them.

Sadly our politicians in the west are very bit as much a bunch of total and utter imbeciles as are the Chinese communist leaders, they only see tomorrow and next year and lack the foresight to place there nations into positions of strength to take what will be left when the current die off is over.

So Children were the future, are the future and we Europeans, the US , the Chinese, the Japanese and perhaps much of the rest of the world are simply not having enough of them, they really are the only investment that makes any sense at all.

Even if China waged a war and won it would not save them, they will still become increasingly weak, increasingly old and lack enough children to save themselves unless they have a population boom, hmmmm I wonder if they are planning one?.

I’m glad you consider the enslavement of over a billion people to be totally acceptable because it makes your life more convenient.

Who's doing the smuggling? Who's distributing and selling it?

They can rest assured I will NEVER knowingly purchase any food from China. I'd rather starve if that means supporting local and domestic production and real trade partners.
