Making music has always been how I've kept myself sane, happy and social.

I play for fun, sometimes I get paid, if I do it's usually just enough to cover my bar tab.

My band is in hiding for the time being, and has been for the last year, so I've been on my own to satisfy my creative needs.

I typically play rock/blues/country, anything driven by guitar, but over this last year I have taken a stab at making music that is more electronic in nature.

Here's a weird song and video I made.

I have some more stuff posted here if anyone is interested.

I'm also totally into some collaborations if there are any other bored music makers around here.

That was great electronica. I too love the time spent with my axes and jam trax. I had to quit performing because the lifestyle put me in the county lock up from time to time. but like they say...'you gotta suffer to sing the blues' and "aint nobody's fault but mine"

Currently my efforts are into playing lounge jazz on keys. My first foray into piano, thanks to the Corona flu. God bless the ii v i and the harmonic minor.

That's one upside to this last year, lots of us got to woodshed a bit.

I had to leave my piano behind last year when I moved into a smaller space, I'm down to a 2 octave midi keyboard now. I still have a pile of amps , guitars and other noise makers though.

Loves me a bit of weird, any day of the week.

I was playing it at 0.75x speed and at 1.25x speed just to bump up the tripiness

You are a madman and I like the cut of your jib!

Did you know that if you play Justin Bieber 800% slower he sounds like Sigur Ross?

Very nice! I've been doing something completely different too over the last year. Not sure just where it will lead or if it will at all... I finally got in a band a year ago January after moving to PA a long time ago and not knowing anyone around here, then it fell apart because of Covid... Now I'm thinking of just doing my own thing from here on out. Getting pretty old anyway...haha

I haven't gotten around to laying down any tracks yet, I've been too busy learning/re-learning some instruments and studying up on the construction of some new instruments. I guess I'm either getting board with the guitar or just got a bad taste in my mouth about it all lately.. I don't know. But all I've been playing since the new year has been the cello so far.

Never too old for rock and roll man! I'm in my late 30s and my bass player is retired if that helps.

It sucks not being able to see your band, but the construction of instruments sounds pretty awesome, like a luthier.

If you're looking for a fun musical toy to play with I can't say enough good things about the Korg Volca Keys, I got one a few years ago and it completely changed how I look at music and noise. They go for less than $200 but are worth so much more. I actually got a few more of the keyboards in the Volca series, they are so much fun!

Haha, late 30s, I remember those days! That was a lifetime ago for me. But I do agree, I'll never consider myself to old to rock out. I look forward to being able to retire in the next few years so I can devote more time to it.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into that Korg.

Thanks for the reply btw!

Dang, I was just watching a video of that Korg keyboard. That's nuts! It looks like too much for my simply mind to operate though...

There is certainly a learning curve with the volca. I started on it not knowing anything about sound synthesis, but after a few weeks it started becoming far more intuitive. If you get one I can send you some patch notes I've put together. The sequencer on it is a lot of fun, I like to hook it up to my drum machine (a volca beat) and make my own version of "on the run" sometimes.

I grabbed the "volca modular" a little while ago and It's the most confusing piece of equipment I've ever owned, it makes my head spin.
