And the US, on its own, without the Paris Accords, reduced our emissions far more than the targets without killing off our industries like the Biden Autocracy is doing right now.

Again, it's been pointed out to you that they admit, in their own words, that NOTHING we are doing is going to make a substantial difference, and yet you are all on board with them doing it, and the costs to it are substantial, real, and very, very damaging to people all over the country.

Everything is a pipe dream until the hard work goes in to make it reality. You are right to say that Green Tech isn't as green as made out, but it is better than the alternative and being improved on all the time.

Global attitudes are hardening on climate change. Whatever anyone's personal view on climate change, that is a fact. I believe it won't be that long until we start seeing States (as in nation states rather than US states) that don't take this seriously being treated as pariahs on the global stage. That will manifest itself with some serious repercussions. For example, States that refuse to comply simply being banned from global markets - a kind of "if you won't join in then we don't want anything to do with you" scenario.

A little history

The 1970s Ice Age Scare..

Almost every major climate organization endorsed the 1970s ice age scare, including NCAR, CRU, NAS, NASA – as did the CIA.

Short term economic pain. In the scheme of things, so what? The industries being targeted harm far more people with the pollution they cause than will be impacted by losing their jobs. And, again, we are a planet, not just one country.

But, yes, i am completely on board with them doing it. I personally hope they go further.

It sounds like decisions are being made based on feelings. What could possibly go wrong?

The truth is the current green tech will never be efficient because physics doesn't allow it to be.

Green attitudes "and money are why we have ethanol in our gas making things worse.
Mandates and taxes are not the way but it's the current method and it's doomed to fail.

Short-term economic pain? Easy to say when you aren't losing everything and don't think it will bite you in the butt or perceive how it will.

Understand, we have zero way to replace fossil fuels in our economy, and I'm not talking about as fuel, but looking around you on your desk a good portion of everything around you depends on them in some way, not just for the energy to produce but for the chemicals and by products that goes into them.

Most medical grade gear is dependent on them for production.

Wind and solar will never replace that.

Additionally, wind and solar are not efficient enough to power what we need powered now without fossil fuel backup. California as a state proves that. They've gone farthest down this road, and they are highly dependent on their neighbors to produce energy for them, but they still have rolling blackouts because they don't have enough energy.

Force everyone to go to electric cars and where does the power come from? You can't produce enough now from wind and solar, but add in everyone's car to the mix and there is simply no way, not even if you papered every spare inch of open ground with windmills.

And that's before you talk about their environmental impact on bird and bat species ...

And now let's circle back around to how doing all of this to everyone won't make a bit of difference in the overall picture except to make you *feel better* about it all. Birds could go extinct; bats can go extinct, but you'll *feel good* about yourself.

Climate change is a global issue so it requires a global response.

What about the other planets of this solar system. They have all experienced some temperature rise in the past 50 years or so. How is one planet committing economic suicide going to make the Sun a little dimmer? It is not humans that are the biggest cause of the rise on Earth, it is just a variation of the output of the Sun.

History has failed our nation, people do not understand that in our earth history we have been a lot warmer than that without the blame on humans, because it was not humans back then, the ice age was the one that brought us the now comfortable temperatures where humans has thrive.

So sorry to tell you greenies, the earth will continue to warm up to pre ice age as we keep approaching the end of that era.

Get ready to start building underground cities, we will become a swampy, humid and hot planet again.

I’m curious. Exactly which laws of physics are you referring to?

There have been numerous studies over the last decade or so that show that the energy break even period for solar panels is no more than a couple of years. Probably less than that now since new polycrystalline solar cells are around 19.5% efficient.

Similarly, a modern wind turbine reaches energy break even in less than a year.

Both solar panels and wind turbines should last for 20 years or more so they will clearly produce more energy than they took to manufacture.

Solar energy is now cheaper to install, per Megawatt hour than fossil fuel plants, even without subsidies.

What physics are you aware of that the solar and wind power engineers aren’t?

You do realize what "Green" Energy needs to work ?

'Green' energy relies on copper-nickel mining
The metals needed for electric cars, turbines and solar panels come from somewhere, and the process is not as clean as you think.

Guess who owns all these materials - CHINA - and they'll cut us off in a heart beat

Green energy is a lie a hoax and yes is not clean and the only ones that will be profiting from it is yes you got it China.

Yeah, those 15m dollars that Biden and his son got from China will have big dividends, when is Biden going to get impeached for colluding with China and the Ukraine. I am sure they help him win the elections.

It's the limits of efficiency.
Call it fuel mileage.
You will not be seeing a large improvement in solar panels or batteries until some new tech is discovered.

You said yourself that solar is at 19.5% efficiency.
There will be no huge leap in that number.
These limitations in physics are the problem.

One nuclear plant makes 1000mw in electricity 99% of the time. That with a footprint of maybe 200 acres.
Hydro is similar in reliability but is dependent on geography.

You need the capacity of 5000mw of solar at its average of 20% capacity to make the same 1000mw.
The footprint for that is around 60 square miles plus or minus depending on geographic location.
Wind takes even more space.

That's where the limitations of physics come into play.

Can we discount John Kerry's credentials too? He was educated in Business and Law.
Oh, he married into a ketchup fortune too.
Those have a lot to do with environmental science.

Instead of dismissing it, go ahead and disprove it ....

Why China’s Dominance Matters
As the world transitions to a cleaner future, the demand for rare earth metals is expected to nearly double by 2030, and countries are in need of a reliable supply chain.

China’s virtual monopoly in rare earth metals not only gives it a strategic upper hand over heavily dependent countries like the U.S.—which imports 80% of its rare earths from China—but also makes the supply chain anything but reliable.

“China will not rule out using rare earth exports as leverage to deal with the [Trade War] situation.”

Don't worry, now that 'they' are in full control they can do whatever they want.

We will all be mandated to live in their urban utopias while 95% of the US land mass will be illegal to trespass on, unless you are part of the ruling class.
