They want to prevent Trump from holding any office again. Also, he can lose his Presidential pension(he will need it with his financial woes). Some have speculated he could lose the lifetime secret service protection also.

I am convinced the Senate refused to hear evidence from his 1st impeachment because had they heard it they would have had to vote to convict and remove him from office. This was their plausible deniability excuse to vote No.
Trump was impeached once already, however the spineless Senate majority were Republicans who did not want to upset their MAGA voting base and refused to vote yes.
Obviously these facts will not be popular on here, being this site is flooded with the pro-Trump crowd.
I am a bit worried that so many on here continue to make excuses for Don the con.

So you think Trump is innocent and had nothing to do with the storming of the Capitol?

Until the impeachment vote takes place all you have is an investigation.
During that investigation witness were 'invited', didn't show, were subpoenaed, and subpoenas ignored.
At no time was the President refused the opportunity to reply to the charges and in fact the investigation was blocked by the White House in every possibly way.
It is 100% wrong to spin the House investigation as refusing to hear input from the President - the President refused to provide input and actively blocked the investigation from hearing input from people who might even have helped clear him.
