I don’t really think that it’s all deliberate. But that doesn’t mean that it’s any less of a problem.
You come out of a store & have your hands full of packages/bags, you take off your mask & put it on your finger, but it falls off without you even realizing. Or you think that you shoved it into your pocket, but you didn’t get it in far enough & it falls out halfway across the parking lot.

I have seen clip-on straps for masks, like the granny straps for reading glasses. That would be a great solution for people who have to wear a mask all day. Where do you put them while you eat? Lay it on your desk or on the table? Yuk!
They should have them for sale at checkout counters everywhere! Any entrepreneurs here???

Masks... straws... I’m tired of seeing needles laying around and I live in a rural area and do not go out much.

One of the biggest intentional littering contributors is cigarette butts. Look along the sides of any roadway or pretty much anywhere and they're everywhere.

So a .0023% increase in the 300 million or so tons produced yearly?

But every bit counts, I guess.
