This trick really works! I love garlic in everything, but dread having to peel several cloves. I used to smash them with the side of the blade and chop from there.

That method works. But this method is next level. I used a glass jar with a lid and gave it a good throttle like Homer Simpson! Now that I've got the garlic peeled, maybe I should cook something?

I always just pull the clove out and smash it with the broad side of my knife.
Peeled, and halfway chopped!

*you need kitchen hands to do this

Put garlic clove in ur palm with both hands palm to palm roll it in ur hand with some preshure done

I just buy 5 lb bags of pre peeled garlic grown in ca I try to avoid chinese garlic

If u do buy a big bag of pelled garlic dehydrate it and make your own garlic powder you will never want to go back

That would be easiest just to buy the pre peeled garlic. But every time I did that, the garlic was less potent. I always buy it fresh for max flavor. I just break 3-4 peices off, smash them with the side of a knife. The peel comes right off.

And since I did just that tonight....
I'm craving sugar really bad right now, chocolate in particular. This happen to anyone else? 😊

I like this way because most times I just use maybe three cloves and this would be better for me. In fact, tomorrow when I make soup, I might actually try this. I use quite a bit of garlic, but usually my soup has three cloves in the initial cook, then strain and another two or three that goes into the broth with the second veggies and deboned meat returned to the soup.

Gota get the stuff thats grown in the usa by the time it makes the trip from China im shure its old and far less potent

Agreed, looking at the packaging my garlic ( and I should have known this already ) comes from Gilroy California USA. I use to go down there every year darn near for the garlic festival. Mmmmm, garlic ice cream. You knew you were close to Gilroy buy the smell.

Neat trick. I do get annoyed with the garlic process usually.

However, My Italian ancestors said crushing the garlic opens up the best flavor.

No way....easiest way is to gently pinch top and bottom of clove and twist back and forth a few times as you gently squeeze your fingers together.....the good part slips its jacket off and is easy to strip bare....no whacking schwacking and hacking.....just a twist-squeeze-peel.

I only buy ca garlic it taste so much better ... and I dont have to worry about what may or may not of been done to it

If u like garlic u gota make ur own powder its nothing like the stuff u buy

This works, huh?


My food today is going to be pasta with tomato based sauce. Obviously, it needs garlic. I am a garlic freak. My method for peeling garlic so far has been this:

1: Separate the unpeeled cloves from each other and cut the ends off with a knife
2: Hold a clove in one hand and knife in the other and make the peel come off little by little
3: Use profanity, silently in the mind
4: Do it to all the cloves needed
5: Use profanity out loud
6: Done! Enjoy!
