For those 'fiscal conservatives' waiting to come out the woodwork just in time for the Biden Presidency, make sure you showed consistency during the Trump one:

President Trump promised in the 2016 campaign to eliminate the federal debt over a two-term presidency. That pledge won't come to fruition, and, in fact, he will leave office having added massively to the debt.

“His tenure has been marked by a total disregard for any concern about mounting debt,” said Jim Capretta, a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, a right-leaning think tank in Washington, D.C.

When Trump was inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2017, the total national debt was nearly $20 trillion, according to the Treasury Department. It has increased over roughly 30% since, nearly $8 trillion, to $27 trillion, as of Monday.

For comparison, President Barack Obama added roughly $9 trillion to the national debt during his eight years in office, according to the Treasury Department.

So what of it? I mean the Dems took over the House 2 years ago right? Nevermind the 2 years of a Republican controlled House and Senate he started off with in the first place?

How about we just insist that you can't put complete blame on the President himself, as this is bigger than him? How about actions then I say. Has the President demonstrated a willingness to be as fiscally responsible as he proclaims?

Maybe we'll just be lazy and blame it on the Deep State, or Soros, or whatever I guess? Whatever deflects from the facts. Anything necessary.

On the bright side, we have about 19 days until Republicans care about the deficit again.

What about UK? What about all the other countries around the world that increased their deficit due to the kung flu?
Is that also Trumps fault?

Coronavirus caused this, and China is responsible for that.... the same China that owns the USA and Biden!!

Why are you blaming Trump?

The pandemic that spurred on the lockdowns for the last 10 months is to blame for 4 years of debt increase? Are they to blame for Trump's individual actions as well?

CHINA CHINA CHINAAAA!!!!

Ironically, the OP will be defending Biden's deficit spending in 3 months.

Because he is being disingenuous as usual. Trump overspent in areas he shouldn't have, no question, but three trillion of that was the House Covid relief plan plus whatever this current plan ends up being. Over a trillion at least. So the claim of the article author means ZERO because of the circumstances, just like Obama is not to blame for all of his spending.

You guys on the Left need to get it through your thick skulls that the House and Senate write the bills and can override any veto Trump puts on a bill. He is not unlike any former president when he doesn't bother vetoing them because he, like the others, know Congress has the option.

Get a new story OP, something with some intellectual honesty for once.

That was my point... the OP cannot be honest... obviously he has an agenda to discredit Trump.... every other president has contribuuted to this deficit.... its not even a talking point anymore!!!!

The most he can do is post CHINA meme's!

You tried to make it about trump, when its not trump that does the spending as you well know.

God forbid the Democrats ACTUALLY show some personal responsability, I wish trump had veto'd spending on more than one occasion but congress was always going to spend like a drunken sailor..

But yea Orange man bad yadda yadda yadda...
