The name of that comedy you’re thinking about is “Galaxy Quest” with Tim Allen.

Also, re: the idea of advanced species sending out "hello" signals, into space:

The more I've thought about it, the more this makes perfect sense, and it really is exactly what an advanced species would do.

Because no one species can physically travel everywhere throughout space... however, some kind of signal could travel into the far reaches of space, relatively easily.

So yes, I've become convinced that alien species absolutely would send out such "hello" signals, in a general spread, through space. At least, once in a while.

Then they can see if any species are becoming advanced enough to actually receive it, understand it, and respond to it... and our own species is certainly not at that level.

It really does make sense if the advanced species was just always looking to identify advanced species throughout the universe.

Maybe in a thousand years, or something, maybe future humans will be able to respond to such signals.

And it's not that we necessarily lack the tech to do that. But it's just that most of our species is basically just living like animals struggling for survival each day.

So we just have very little focus on such things as contacting alien species. Probably there are a small handful of people who work at NASA and other space agencies in the world... so maybe in the world, there might be a handful of people who might consider working on the idea of finding and responding to alien signals.

Meanwhile, the vast majority of people are still living in animal mode, struggling to obtain food and shelter etc.

So it's probably just the general state of humanity as stubbornly primitive... which is probably the biggest reason that we can't do such things as find alien signals and communicate with them.

Here is someone who speculated that they would send a tone to make us watch that area for a signal later.

Aliens at Proxima Centauri? A New Radio Signal Raises the Question

The signal was found by Breakthrough Listen, a privately funded effort to search for signals from intelligent beings.

Breakthrough Listen scientists recorded the signal while monitoring Proxima Centauri for flares to understand how they might affect conditions on the star’s planets.

The radio signal appeared in multiple observations of Proxima Centauri taken by Parkes in April and May 2020. The signal wasn’t noticed until later.

Why the signal could be aliens
The signal frequency, 982 megahertz, is not typically used by spacecraft.

This by far is the closest we have come to showing alien life. If this doesnt turn out to be earth based then we might have made contact.

They are probably saying: "we were going to reveal ourselves this year, but you guys are nuts so we decided to go to another galaxy instead.

Yes, or similarly, they might have said:

"Sorry but we thought you guys would have evolved better, since we upgraded your brains, about 200,000 yrs ago. So we planned to say hi, but now we see that you guys are still just a bunch of monkeys, despite our upgrades. So we'll pass. Try evolving better and we might say hi in another 1,000 yrs or so."

Im confused by what you mean. Do you think radio signals on travel a certain distance then just stop? Or are you trying to say parkes isnt advanced enough to get signals because its Australian?

What if in the distant past, our ancestors made contact and for their own reasons asked the aliens to leave them alone and stay away?

Then the aliens all this time is just honoring that request?

Well OK but that's a very flattering idea, to us humans. Too flattering imo, because you're imagining humans on the same level as those aliens.

...

My own perspective on this, which I've developed over the years, is that: Thousands of years ago, it seems established that the "gods" lived among men. "Gods" being aliens, obviously.

Records of this are all around the world, in traditional stories, and even illustrations, as Egypt shows us ancient depictions of small humans living alongside giants. There are even some typical "grey aliens" in Egypt's ancient carvings... for real.

Anyway, apparently men and gods lived together, until a few thousand years ago... it seems that the aliens themselves destroyed everything, by waging war against each other.

We can see residual damage of this, even today, such as how some of Egypt's ancient pyramids seem exploded, and there are MANY more indications of this ancient nuclear war.

That alien war: Probably caused the damage on the face of the moon (that we now interpret as a face). Probably also caused Mars' giant damage scar, which looks exactly like it got zapped by a weapon.

So the aliens waged war in our solar system. I don't know why. But they did, and we can see the results of it.

...

After the war: I don't think alien species were wiped out. I don't think that would be possible.

However, I think the war POISONED the Earth's surface with so much radiation etc. that it became unlivable for any aliens.

And that's how humans became the only semi-intelligent species, to inhabit Earth's surface. I think it's only because the aliens poisoned Earth's surface, way too much for themselves to live here.

I don't think the aliens left Earth, I think they simply relocated themselves completely underwater. Where the surface poison can't affect them, with miles of water as protection. Plus it keeps themselves neatly separated from us humans.

...

Honestly I think modern humans are mainly just the remnants of humanity which just barely survived the alien apocalypse war, thousands of yrs ago.

Doubtless, humans were reduced back to the stone age again... and against all odds, those few scattered cavemen, managed to survive the new poisoned environment... eventually spreading over the surface, and slowly developing AGAIN from cavemen, into our modern day mess.

...

So I think our species is basically just an afterthought: We are just an unintentional result of that ancient war.

The aliens considered Earth's surface as dead... so they left it alone. Including the remaining shreds of humanity, and other life.

Probably the aliens expected Earth's surface to just become a complete wasteland, devoid of all life. But life prevailed in the new radioactive, poison landscape. Even humans, starting over as animals again, basically.

...

So they probably just didn't expect humans or other life, to survive.

But we did, to their surprise. Life on Earth managed to spread over the land, despite everything being a radioactive, toxic wasteland.

So I'm sure they've watched us and studied us, from a distance, for the most part. We're an unexpected outcome of their world-destroying war.

So they've watched us as a curiosity. We're an absurd science experiment that they didn't expect to work out.

...

Clearly the aliens have kept a "hands-off" approach, this time around, as they obviously have avoided us mostly, and they definitely didn't even try to live alongside us.

Of course, I mostly blame that on their war, which poisoned Earth's surface, too much for them to live here.

But also, they've probably avoided us because humans are stubbornly primitive creatures, and they want to avoid whatever trouble and complications could come, from having more direct contact with us.

...

And after their world-ending war, they probably consider us a new species of humans anyway:

We were surely reduced to animals, after their war... with destruction of all civilization, and an end to ALL human advancement of every kind. (If human survivors were scattered enough, then we probably even lost our ability to TALK with each other... and we must have gone back to caveman grunting and growling.)

And then we lived in a new poison world that probably has limited our brains' development, and all of our progress as a species, in every way, even now.

So modern humans are probably not even half as intelligent, or advanced, as our ancestors were, a few thousand yrs ago, living among aliens in a relative paradise on Earth. (Probably what the myth of "Eden" refers to.)

And that's why aliens don't interact with us, lol. We're not a fraction of our former selves, that they used to live alongside.

I do think they've tried to slowly upgrade our brains, here and there, to push us along toward better advancement, as a species.

But I also think that we're stubbornly primitive and animalistic creatures, much worse than they expected, lol.

So besides living in their nuclear fall-out poison, that they can't live in: Beyond that, aliens avoid us because they just don't like us. We're not an intelligent species, we're barely even partially intelligent.

The aliens can accurately see that despite all their upgrades to our brains, we have stayed animalistic, much more than we've really truly evolved.

We should be honest about it too. Despite our upgraded abilities, and our technological abilities: The fact is that MOST people are struggling to survive, everyday, for their whole life.

Which means that we are mostly just living as animals.

Also, I bet that aliens will contact us in the future, but only IF our species advances beyond the animal-realm.

Meaning that once humanity grows beyond our current state, of everyone struggling to survive.

Once we grow enough to actually support our own life needs, just automatically, everyone having food and shelter etc.

Only then could humanity REALLY start to grow and find new potential.

Well logically one alien species making it to earth would be huge. Having 2 of them fight a war in our solar system would be near impossible. But lets throw rationality out the window for a second and ask why fight here? Theres nothing special about our solar system so why not fight closer to their home. Be like you and i deciding to fight and we agree to meet in Tokyo instead of finding somewhere between us.

Hey if that's how you want to look at it, then suit yourself, lol.

But I think that before the catastrophe, there were apparently advanced civilizations on Earth and Mars too, at the same time.

On Earth, gods living among humans, and who knows on Mars if it was only the gods, or if it was humans too.

So the war was on such a scale that it was blasting across our solar system, hitting Earth and our Moon, but mostly destroying Mars into the wasteland that it still is today.

So apparently Mars was the real target, most of all, destroying a whole planet, like Darth Vader.

So there had to be at least two gigantic, advanced species at war, of that scale.

This also lines up with the Younger Dryas Event, when Earth plummeted suddenly into a new ice age, about 12,000 yrs ago.

And that easily lines up with the idea of humans being diminished to living like animals / cavemen again, because there was basically not any real start of civilization, since later than that.

National Geographic:

The earliest civilizations developed between 4000 and 3000 BCE, when the rise of agriculture and trade allowed people to have surplus food and economic stability.

Makes a great sci-fi movie but here's the problem. If there was an advanced race we would know about it we would have found stuff they made. 12000 years from know they will still be finding stuff from us. Probably twinkies those things last forever. The funny part is when they find things like Mount Rushmore they are going to think they were our gods or something. Or the lincoln memorial will be found and they will think it was a temple.

^Not really though, because with enough time passed, and enough thorough decomposition, then we would have hardly anything to show of our existence. Our buildings will crumble into eventually becoming just rubble, and then soil. Our metal objects will dissolve away...

It's stone work that actually lasts the longest. As we see Egypt's pyramids, Sphinx etc.

And it's why we don't find ancient computers etc. Especially considering their nuclear war that destroyed almost everything.

But you do have a good point here:

The funny part is when they find things like Mount Rushmore they are going to think they were our gods or something. Or the lincoln memorial will be found and they will think it was a temple.

^It shows how over-used it is, to explain everything as religious significance.

If we found Mt. Rushmore, then yes, we'd absolutely assume that the faces are gods, and we'd make up a magical ritual with the sun shining on their faces or something lol.

We'd probably imagine that primitive people were gathering below the gods' faces, to celebrate the sunlight hitting the faces, and then we'd have a giant religious festival for a week, of everyone dancing and feasting etc.

This is basically how we make up similar stories and explanations for the ancient civilizations.

Humans have made an almost indelible impression on this planet, so we will be detectable for many millions of years. There will be fossils of us and of our domesticated animals, just as we find fossils of dinosaurs and their distant ancestors. There will be clues in the chemistry of Earth that are indicative of a civilization that has changed the climate, extracted raw materials, and manufactured things. Then if they can travel they are going to find the stuff we left on the moon its not going anywhere in fact they will see where we walked. Probably find a couple of our probes as well especially the ones we put into orbit to monitor our sun. An advanced civilization really cant help but leave traces that will be easy to detect if they were looking. Even our cemeteries just as we find dinosaur bones they will find ours.

Though there will be some strange things for them like imagine when they find a pet cemetery they will be thinking there was more than one intelligent species lol.

And 93 light years to NGC 2608.
And just the observable universe is some 93 billion light years across.

Yes it may have been a drift due to parallax since Proxima B is the closest star source which is most affected by Parallax.
The Signal from Proxima B now reported as 982.002 MHz.
