This figure was crossed today and will continue to go up. COVID will finish the year as the 3rd leading cause of death. Keep in mind, this figure is deaths per total population, not just those infected.

With the vaccine in limited supply and even more limited by it's roll out due to bureaucracy, greed and denialism; we will still have a few more grim months before the vaccination efforts start to show improvement.

The current surge of deaths will likely result with COVID becoming the leading cause of death in December. Currently heat disease is the leading cause of death, claiming about 2300 lives a day in the US. So far this month, we have seen multiple days in excess of 3,000 deaths a day from COVID. Also life expectancy will drop by as much as 3 years as a result of the pandemic.

While hope is around the corner, this is a grim way to end of the year. With news of a vaccine, many may not take the same precautions to prevent transmission, this along with the season may result in even higher COVID rates before the majority can get the vaccine.

From covid or with covid... big difference.

The problem is they are claiming every death where someone tests positive even if that wasn't the primary cause of death.

Do you have the data on all the other deaths - heart disease, cancer, strokes, etc? are those going down? If so, we know that those people are being counted as Covid instead of what really killed them.

Because all deaths are Covid related now. Heart disease and the common flu don’t exist anymore.

If you know how to search and read, it has. There were 400,000 excess deaths in the U.S. for 2020 (not counting December)

Because that doesn't help spread fear. Now lock yourself down and wait for your government check like a good little sheep!

Why are you lying?

2019 - CDC
www.cdc.gov...

"Summary
In 2019, a total of 2,854,838 resident deaths were registered in the United States.."

2020 - CDC
www.cdc.gov...

As of December 23, 2020 - 2,851,438

Is the CDC now untrustworthy for you folks?

Has it ever crossed your mind that those excess deaths could be from other causes such as a consequence of the lock downs? People not seeking treatment for things such as cancer, heart disease, etc when they should have because everything was locked down?

While people missing appointments will, if not properly addressed, impact on deaths from other causes you would not expect to see that affect immediately.

Source? Because I have oneCoincidence?
In that link there is stats; now the biggest *complication* with Covid19 is that it “causes” pneumonia.... then why did those related deaths not skyrocket ? They stayed roughly the same if not lower.... (Michigan only stats)

Your source is the Associated Press, what big lie did they begin to spread on or around November 3rd?

Apologies if I don't find them credible.

It has. You are repeating a lie.

Unfortunately, this board is full of people who reject facts and science for anything that aligns with their confirmation bias.

Amazing that a one liner that is a straight up lie gets so many stars, when the actual facts get ignored.

Back in the day, your comment would have been deleted, as one liners add nothing to the conversation.

Had you actually checked the links, you would have found your claim is B$.

reply to: dug88

You took that out of context. I wrote it will likely be the leading cause of death in the month of December .

We have had many days in December that exceeded 3000 deaths. At this rate, COVID deaths for December will average more than 2300 deaths day(again for the month of December), making it the leading cause of death for the month.

We simply don't know. Given the elderly are already frail, isolating them and missing appointments could very well be a huge factor in immediate death.

Member carewemust has done all the hard work......

So, unless there are a massive number of Covid-19, or other kind of deaths between now and December 31st, it appears the United States will experience a relatively normal year, mortality-wise. That is good news!

The one statistic nobody in the Media, Political world, or Health/Medical fields can fudge or lie about, is the number of deaths in the United States.

In 2019, there was NO Covid-19: The number of USA deaths: 2,854,838

www.cdc.gov...

With 2 weeks left in 2020, and a supposedly catastrophic virus pandemic raging the past 10 months, the number of USA deaths stands at: 2,835,533

That’s why they’re shoving common core down our throats. They don’t want future voters to be able to do simple math.

Math says hoax. Hoax bin?
